It was the comeback match for Mohammed Shami, who wasn’t selected in the Indian playing XI for their first four matches in the tournament. On his comeback, Shami had an important role in India’s four-wicket win against New Zealand, where his bowling figures (10-1-54-5) restricted New Zealand to 273 runs.

Shaheen Shah Afridi (Pakistan) – 5/54 vs Australia

Although Pakistan suffered a 62-run defeat against Australia during their 368-run chase, brilliant Pakistan left-arm fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi claimed a five-wicket haul. He finished the game with the bowling figures 10-1-54-5.

Ravindra Jadeja (India) – 5/33 vs South Africa

Defending 326 runs against in-form South Africa, India bundled out their opponents for only 83 runs. The left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja was the best bowler in that game finishing with the bowling figures 9-1-33-5.

Mohammed Shami (India) – 5/18 vs Sri Lanka

After India scored 357/8 against Sri Lanka, the right-arm pacer Mohammed Shami destroyed the Sri Lankan batting line-up for only 55 runs. Shami finished the game with the bowling figures 5-1-18-5 as the Lankan batters had no clue.
