India vs England: India scored 229/9

After winning the toss, England captain Jos Buttler chose to field first. Although the hosts India were struggling at 40/3, skipper and opener Rohit Sharma had a crucial 91-run fourth-wicket partnership with KL Rahul to rescue the team.

Rohit scored 87 runs in 101 balls with the help of 10 fours and three sixes. While Rahul scored 39 runs, Suryakumar Yadav played a crucial knock of 49 runs in 47 balls with four fours and only six. Also, the lower-order batters Jasprit Bumrah (16) and Kuldeep Yadav (9*) added some vital runs in the final moment with a 21-run partnership for the ninth wicket.

Among the English bowlers, while David Willey (3/45) got three wickets, Chris Woakes (2/33) and Adil Rashid (2/35) picked up two wickets each. Also, Mark Wood collected a wicket for 46 runs.

In reply, although the English openers had a good-looking start with a 30-run partnership, Indian pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami quickly changed the situation by destroying the defending champions for 39/4.

Apart from Liam Livingstone with 27 runs, all the other English batters failed to reach the 20-run mark as England were bundled out for only 129 runs in 34.5 overs. The hosts India won the match by 100 runs.
