The Los Angeles Clippers are among the best franchises in the NBA right now, having risen to prominence in the past decade. The franchise, formerly known as the Buffalo Braves, was established in 1970. It eventually relocated to San Diego in 1978 and Los Angeles in 1984. The Clippers have never won a championship or a conference title, and their history is one of mediocrity and bad luck. They have nevertheless chosen some of the greatest NBA players ever, who have made an impact on the group and the league. The top five NBA players selected by the Los Angeles Clippers are as follows:

 

Danny Manning

Danny Manning, a talented big from Kansas who had helped his team win a national title and received the Wooden Award as a senior, was selected first overall in the 1988 NBA Draft. He played for the Clippers for six seasons, where he was a two-time All-Star and 1993 member of the NBA Third Team. In 1992 and 1993, he also assisted the Clippers in twice making it to the playoffs. With the Clippers, he recorded game averages of 19 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 3.1 assists.

 

Blake Griffin

 

Blake Griffin, a strong forward who had won the Naismith Award and the Wooden Award as a sophomore at Oklahoma, was selected first overall in the 2009 NBA Draft. Due to a knee injury, he missed his whole rookie season but made a great comeback in 2010–11, winning Rookie of the Year and being selected to his first of six All-Star teams with the Clippers. Along with Chris Paul and DeAndre Jordan, he was a member of the Lob City Three that elevated the Clippers to the top of the NBA. With the Clippers, he had a game average of 21.6 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 4.2 assists.


Bob McAdoo

 

Out of North Carolina, where he had been a two-time All-American and a national champion as a sophomore, powerful center Bob McAdoo was selected in the second round of the 1972 NBA Draft. He played with the Buffalo Braves for four seasons, winning three scoring titles, an MVP honor, and two rebounding crowns. With the Braves, he was selected to three All-Star teams and three All-NBA First Teams. With the Braves, he had game averages of 28.2 points, 12.7 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks.

 

Elton Brand

 

Elton Brand, a dependable big man who had won the Naismith Award and the Wooden Award as a sophomore at Duke, was selected first overall in the 1999 NBA Draft. He played for the Clippers for seven seasons, where he twice made the All-Star team and was named to the NBA Second Team in 2006. In addition, under his leadership, the Clippers advanced to the second round of the playoffs for the first time since coming to Los Angeles in 2006. With the Clippers, he had a game average of 20.3 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks.

 

Chris Paul

 

One of the best point guards of all time and one of the greatest Clippers players in team history is Chris Paul. Out of Wake Forest, where he had been a two-time All-American and the ACC Player of the Year as a sophomore, he was selected with the fourth overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft. Before being moved to the Los Angeles Clippers in 2011, he played for the New Orleans Hornets for six seasons. He played with the Clippers for six seasons, during which time he was a six-time All-Star, a member of the All-NBA First Team four times, a member of the All-Defensive First Team five times, and a leader in assists four times. Additionally, he guided the Clippers to two division crowns and six straight postseason appearances.
