With the no. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NBA draft, the Minnesota Timberwolves surprised everyone with picking Anthony Edwards out of Georgia state instead of the much hyped Lamelo Ball. And in all fairness, I think the Timberwolves made the right decision.

Finishing second last in their conference, the Timberwolves got a breath of fresh air with Anthony Edwards. While Lamelo Ball is an amazing prospect, Edwards on the other hand is a proven scorer. A specialist from the mid-range, Edwards can score inside being listed as 6'5 and can also play at the small forward position.

And now onto the updated roster for the Minnesota Timberwolves.

At center is the big Kat, Karl Anthony-Towns. Towns is an inside out scorer with a bunch of potential to be one of the best shooting bigs in the league. He can score from anywhere on the floor and for a bigman has quite the versatility to outrun other big men and finish at the rim. Towns has proven himself to be a knockdown shooter from the 3point arc and his teammates also look for him to get open shots on the floor.

The player who compliments Towns the most has been D'Angelo Russell. Russell is a literal offensive threat on the floor. The way he pushes the ball on offense and the amount of attention he requires is insane. Russell can get hot in a hurry. Couple of three's and all of a sudden he's knocking down everything. Due to the amount of attention he gets on defense, it lets him create opportunities for his teammates in the process, getting them easy opportunities at the rim or beyond the arc.

Recent trade acquisitions have brought Ricky Rubio back to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Rubio has always been an excellent playmaker. His basketball IQ in finding open lanes & creating for his teammates is amazing. And now that Rubio has added the 3point shot to his arsenal, he has developed into a real threat on offense.

Josh Okogie & Jarrett Culver are two young prospects that are developing into their games with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Okogie provides lockdown defense on the best player the opposing team has to offer while Jarrett Culver provides scoring on all three levels, inside, mid-range and almost beyond the arc.

For some floor spacing the Timberwolves have Malik Beasley who was acquired from the Denver Nuggets. Beasley is a sharpshooter from the mid-range & 3point arc who provides much needed floor spacing needed for the Timberwolves.

Timberwolves have a bunch of guards and I for one feel they need another talented big to compliment Karl Anthony-Towns inside the paint. Rondae Hollis-Jefferson has been playing the power forward position but i definitely feel Minnesota should look for a change at that position. And for now, I don't see the Timberwolves making the playoffs until and unless Anthony Edwards explodes onto another level giving the Timberwolves another option on offense or the other young prospects up their game. Though the addition of Ricky Rubio has been an excellent move this offseason as Rubio is already aware of Minnesota’s offense and has run it perfectly in the past. I believe he’ll be just at home in Minnesota again.
