5. 183(148) vs Pakistan, Asia Cup 2012

 

It was a high voltage match as India and Pakistan were competing against one another. Pakistan batted first and posted a massive total of 329/6. Nasir Jamshed and Mohammad Hafeez both scored a century. It was a qualifying match and India had to win.

Gambhir got out for a duck and India was in a huge trouble. Then came Kohli. He batted like a maestro, hitting the ball all over the place. He scored 22 fours and one six before getting out. India registered the victory and Kohli got the man of the match award.

4. 133(86) vs Sri Lanka Commonwealth Bank Series

 

This was a must-win match for India and that also within 40 years. Had India lost, they would have been out of the Series against Sri Lanka and Australia.


India won the toss and decided to bowl first. Dilshan and Sangakkara scored two centuries and posted a total of 320. India had to score the 321 runs within 40 over at 8 RPO. It was almost an impossible task. But, Virat Kohli came to bat and the entire scenario changed.

Kohli scored 133 from 86 deliveries only with 16 fours and two sixes. He was provided good support by Gautam Gambhir, Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar and Suresh Raina. As a result, India chased the total in 36.4 overs and won the match handsomely. Kohli got man of the match award.


3. 129(96) vs South Africa-2018

 

India and South Africa squared off in a 6 match series earlier in 2018. It was the final match of the series and India were already leading 4-1. South Africa did bat first but failed to generate an impressive total. They posted a total of 204 /10 in 46.5 overs.


India started the chase but lost both the openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan. Kohli kept the momentum going and score 129 runs. He smashed 19 fours and two sixes and maintained a strike rate of 134. It helped India clinch the series as well as the match. Kohli became man of the match.

 

2. 153(217) vs South Africa- 2nd Test- 2018


 

It was the second test match at Centurion and South Africa batted first and scored 335. India started well and Kohli was on fire. He scored a brilliant 153 and gave India the momentum. However, the rest of the team failed to capitalize and got out for 307. The bowlers did a good job to restrict South Africa to 258. The batsmen, however, failed again and got all out for a meagre 151. India lost the match but everyone appreciated Kohli's solo efforts.

In world cup, India and Pakistan matches are always exciting to watch. In 2015 world cup also, India and Pakistan meet in a pool match for the qualifier. India won the toss and elected to bat first. Rohit Sharma departed shortly and Kohli arrived. The entire scenario changed. He started hitting the bowlers left and right. He smashed 8 fours and scored his 22nd International hundred. India posted a handsome total of 300.

The bowlers did a fabulous job as well and restricted Pakistan to only 224. India won the match comfortably and kept the winning trend going against Pakistan in World Cups. Kohli became man of the match.
