1) Aamir Sohail and Venkatesh Prasad in 1997 world cup -
India and Pakistan were never best of friends on or off the field. The 1996 Indo- Pak quarter-final in Bangalore was one such instance when the old rivalry got re-ignited. Sohail brought up his fifty at better than a run a ball and celebrated with a sizzling slash off Venkatesh Prasad, who was booed in certain stands despite being a local. Once the ball had raced away to the extra-cover fence, Sohail openly lampooned Prasad, pointing to the region with the bat as if to say, “Go, fetch that”. Sohail tried to repeat the slash off the next ball which was pitched on off stump, but on this occasion the result was different. The middle stump had gone for a walk and that was the best answer a bowler can give a batsman.
2) Glenn McGrath vs Sachin Tendulkar -
Tendulkar’s rivalry with legendary leg-spinner, and McGrath’s countryman, Shane Warne is better known, with the Indian having had the clear upper hand. However, that was not the case when he was pitted against the lanky pacer McGrath. Tendulkar always treated the Australian with respect, and maybe sometimes a little too much respect. McGrath employed that to good use on several occasions. Tendulkar didn’t have a particularly great record against McGrath, but whenever the two clashed on the field, it made for cricket entertainment of the highest quality.
3) Harbhajan Singh vs Andrew Symonds -
The Second Test in the Indian cricket team's tour of Australia for the 2007–08 summer was a controversial Test cricket match played over five days at the Sydney Cricket Ground from 2 to 6 January 2008. Australia won the match by 122 runs with minutes to spare at the end of
the fifth day.
The Australians complained that Harbhajan called Symonds a "monkey" during day three of the second Test. Match referee Mike Procter says he is satisfied that Harbhajan used the word and that he intended to offend Symonds on the basis of his race. Harbhajan denied the charge and India says it will appeal against the decision.
4) Yuvraj Singh vs Andrew Flintoff -
We all remember six epic sixes hit by Yuvraj Singh in 2007 T20 world cup. In the latest episode of Breakfast With Champions, hosted by Yuvraj's close friend Gaurav Kapoor, Yuvraj revealed, "I can only tell you my version of the story. Everyone talks about those 6 sixes. I was hit for 5 sixes by Dimitri Mascarenhas. And that day, whatever happened with Flintoff, he bowled well, I hit good shots. So he took a dig at me! So people said that, 'Flintoff said something and that's why Yuvraj hit 6 sixes."
Yuvraj continued to further reveal the story by saying, "Even if he hadn't said that, I feel that on that day I would have hit those sixes because of the way I was hitting the ball. There are some days when you know actually what's going to happen. So I was able to calculate that. I actually felt that this is where the ball's going to come because with the field setting. I got hit earlier, I know how pressure is. So I kept on the pressure."
5) Wahab Riaz vs Shane Watson -
Wahab and Watson had a battle for the ages at Adelaide Oval in the quarter-final of the 2015 World Cup, with Watson surviving a torrid spell of short-pitched bowling to eventually guide Australia to victory. Wahab’s spell was one of the main highlight of the world cup. That spell is considered as the best spell of the world cup 2015.
Later in a press conference wahab said- "When I was batting Watson just came up to me and said, 'Are you holding a bat?' And that was going through my mind," Wahab later said.
"I let him know that even he is having the bat, but he couldn't touch the ball. I know that nowadays, he's not good on the short ball. It was a plan of myself that we discussed in the team meeting."
