Former Caribbean international cricket star Kieron Pollard recently created history by becoming the first to play 600 T20 matches.

The 35-year-old Trinidadian all-rounder Kieron Pollard is currently busy in England’s The Hundred 2022. This unique 100-ball franchise cricket tournament is experiencing the second season, where Pollard is serving for the London Spirit (Men).

One of the most popular faces in global T20 leagues, Kieron Pollard played his 600th T20 match last Monday (8th August), when London Spirit (Men) London Spirit faced Manchester Originals at Lord’s. By appearing in that game, the Trinidadian became the first cricketer to play 600 T20 matches.

Earlier, Pollard also became the first cricketer to play 300, 400, and 500 T20 matches. However, the former South African cricketer Albie Morkel was the first player to experience 100th and 200th T20 matches.

Pollard’s native all-rounder and another former Caribbean international cricket star Dwayne Bravo is in the second position in the list of most T20 matches. Bravo has played 543 T20 matches. In the ongoing The Hundred 2022, Bravo is representing Northern Superchargers.

Kieron Pollard played a valuable role in his 600th T20 match

During his historic 600th T20 match, Pollard played a crucial knock of 34 not out in just 11 balls (only four and 4 sixes). He ended with the strike rate of 309.09 – the record strike rate in an innings of The Hundred (at least scored 25 runs). London Spirit scored 160/6 after choosing to bat first, where opener Zak Crawley (41 off 34 balls) and skipper Eoin Morgan (37 off 26 balls) also had valuable contributions.

In the second innings of that sixth game of The Hundred Men's Competition 2022, Manchester Originals were all out for 108 runs in 98 balls as Pollard’s Spirit won by 52 runs. Jordan Thompson took four wickets in that innings (4/21), while only the opener and wicketkeeper-batter Phil Salt (36 off 34 balls) managed to reach the 20-run mark.
