Indian cricketer Suryakumar Yadav, Mr. 360 once again astonished the world cricket with his spectacular batting performance in the three-match T20I series decider against the visitors Sri Lanka at Rajkot. His powerful century played a massive differential role between the teams as the hosts thrashed the visitors to win the series by 2-1.


Suryakumar Yadav – scored his third T20I century (112 not out in 51 balls)

After the Indian captain Hardik Pandya chose to bat first, India managed a mammoth first innings total of 228/5 in 20 overs. Suryakumar Yadav, who completed his half-century in 26 balls, scored a 45-ball century and remained not out on 112 runs off 51 balls (seven fours and nine sixes). It was his third T20I century which played a massive role in India’s 91-run win.   

Sri Lanka were bundled out for just 137 runs in 16.4 overs. Only the opener and wicketkeeper-batter Kusal Mendis (23), Dhananjaya de Silva (22) and skipper Dasun Shanaka (23) reached the 20-run mark in that big chasing. While Arshdeep Singh (3/20) bagged three wickets, Indian captain Hardik Pandya (2/30), Umran Malik (2/31) and Yuzvendra Chahal (2/30) all took two wickets each, along with Axar Patel’s one wicket (1/19).

  • With his eighth T20I 50+ score (two centuries and six half-centuries) in the ongoing 2022/23 international cricket season, Suryakumar Yadav became the new record holder of most T20I 50+ scores in a season. Virat Kohli (India) and Mohammad Rizwan (Pakistan) previously recorded seven T20I 50+ knocks each in the 2015/16 season and the 2022 season respectively.

  • First player to score three T20I 110s.


(1st to score 3 T20I 100s under 50 balls)

  • Only cricketer to complete three T20I centuries in less than 50 balls. Before this 45-ball T20I century, SKY hit a 48-ball T20I century (vs England at Nottingham on 10th July 2022) and a 49-ball T20I century (vs New Zealand at Mount Maunganui on 20th November 2022).


(2nd fastest T20I century by an Indian)

  • This 45-ball T20I century was India’s second fastest T20I century (according to the number of balls), just behind Rohit Sharma’s T20I record 35-ball hundred (vs Sri Lanka at Indore on 22nd December 2017).


(2nd Indian to hit 3 T20I centuries)

  • Second most T20I centuries (three 100s) by an Indian cricketer. Rohit Sharma is leading this list with four T20I centuries.


(Joint 2nd to hit 3 T20I centuries)

  • Along with Sabawoon Davizi (Czech Republic), Glenn Maxwell (Australia) and Colin Munro (New Zealand), SKY holds the record of joint second most T20I centuries (each scored three 100s). Rohit Sharma is the only cricketer to hit four T20I centuries.


(2nd most run-scorer in a T20I season)

  • At the end of this innings, SKY scored 652 runs in 14 T20I innings in the 2022/23 season with the help of two centuries and six half-centuries. Only Indian cricketer Virat Kohli scored more runs than SKY in a T20 international season (669 runs in 14 T20I innings in the 2015/16 season).


(3rd fastest to complete 3 T20I centuries)

  • While it was Suryakumar’s 43rd T20I innings, he became the third fastest cricketer to complete three T20I centuries (according to the number of T20I innings). Sabawoon Davizi (Czech Republic) recorded it in just 21 T20I innings, while Colin Munro (New Zealand) took 35 T20I innings to smash three T20I centuries.
