As the world is ready to enter into 2020s, We are coming with "Decade Diaries" to celebrate the last decade. Here in this blog,we are discussing the top midfielders in 2010-19, who made it big during this period.

  1. Lionel Messi:

Lionel Andrés Messi Cuccittini, popularly known as Leo by his legions of followers is credited of being one of the most complete, accomplished and proficient athletes of this generation. Commanding a presence closer to the ground, the display of footwork and control over the ball is like none other all over the world. The recipient of 6 Ballon D’ors, the talent that Leo Messi brings to the field is undeniably the best in the history of the beautiful game. A house-full of trophies the Argentine national has a collection like no one else. A permanent resident at the hallowed Camp Nou grounds, the loyal 32 year old has been bringing glory to his club year after year. The only black mark in an otherwise stellar career is his inability to bring glory to his international side, even after making it to the finals in the FIFA World Cup and the Copa America alike.

  1. Cristiano Ronaldo:

The perfect combination between brute physicality, graceful technique and resolute willpower, Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro is a recurring name in any list discussing the best players of this generation. The man from Madeira has won it all, from 5 Ballon D’ors, a wide collection of domestic and international trophies, including multiple UEFA Champions League trophies. The talented number 7 has travelled the world, from Lisbon to Manchester to Madrid and finally Turin. The presence that he commands in the field whether it is in winning aerial duels or belting screamers from range, is a treat to watch. Determination personified, the Portugese forward’s role in the Los Blancos’ continuous success was so huge that they have been unable to replace him following his record move to the Italian giant, Juventus.

  1. Sergio Aguero:

English giant, Manchester City’s secret weapon, Sergio Kun Aguero is the second Argentine to feature on this list. He single handedly took Manchester City to great heights. One of his most memorable goals against Queen Park Rangers, that took the Premier League title from Manchester United from right under their noses and painting the city of Manchester blue after a 44 year old wait. The Cityzens made it onto the list of the top teams of the league thanks to the boatload of goals that the Argentine striker scored for them. The 31 year old is credited of being one of the most consistent players in the English Premier League. Lethal on both domestic and international stages, Sergio Aguero is one of the most clinical strikers ever to play for the Sky Blues. Aguero made it into the hall of fame in the Premier League after having set two records in top-flight football. His second goal against Aston Villa broke Thierry Henry’s record of being the highest scoring overseas striker in Premier League history, and his third goal helped him shatter Alan Shearer’s record of having scored the most hat-tricks in the league.

  1. Luis Suarez:

A walking talking goal machine, the Uruguayan is one of the most feared strikers in the world. Since his days at Ajax,  he has been known to bring magic to each and every game he plays. Luis Alberto Suarez, frequently caught up in the midst of controversies and casual misconduct the number 9 has been at the receiving end of criticism from fans and football pundits one too many times. Soon after his arrival at the Kop, the Salto born striker earned himself a reputation of going down too easy. He was shown multiple yellow cards in his time at Anfield, fifteen of which were for speaking up against the referee on the pitch and two for simulation. As of now the 32 year old boasts of an astonishing tally of 409 goals in 609 games. The numbers clearly show that underneath the image of a rebellious bad boy is a dedicated and creative individual hungry for goals.

  1. Neymar Jr.:

Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior, a rare prodigy and the brazillian wonderkid is undeniably one of the best talents to have come out of the South American nation of Brazil, which is no small feat considering the number of marvels to have come out of the country. The 27 year old has rightfully earned a place on a pedestal, with the likes of Ronaldinho Gaucho, Ronaldo Nazario, Kaka and so many more. Neymar burst into the international scene after winning a Puskas award for netting a solo goal that he ran in from the half line for his former club, Santos. It did not take him too long to create a name for himself in his Catalan side after establishing a partnership with his South-American counterparts and birthing the formidable “MSN” trio. He shows no signs of stopping even after his move to the Parisian outfit where he is determined to bring the Champions League title to France.
