Premier League great, Chelsea legend and Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has announced his retirement at the end of the season.

A career spanning 20 years where he won the Premier League four times and the Champions League title during his time at Chelsea. A four-time PL Golden Glove winner, Cech may be one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time to have played in the PL.

His retirement has been a surprise to many but it was understandable after he lost his place to Bernd Leno as the first choice keeper for Arsenal.

Petr Cech has had several memorable moments in his career but here Sports Social takes a look at six games that defined his career and established him as one of the greats of the game.

Chelsea vs Manchester United, 2004/05 (1-0)

It didn't get bigger than this! Debut at 22 after his £7m move from Rennes and against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge. The young Czech goalkeeper went on to keep a clean-sheet and announced himself to the rest of the Premier League. Little did we know that he would go on to keep a record 202 clean-sheets in England's top division.

Blackburn vs Chelsea, 2004/05 (0-1)

Saved a penalty and broke Peter Schmeichel's record for 694 minutes without conceding. Cech also went on to reveal that it was one of the most important matches in his career as he would go on without conceding for a record 1,025 minutes.

Chelsea vs Portsmouth, 2010 FA Cup final (1-0)

It was Didier Drogba who took the headlines for scoring the winner but it wouldn't have been the winner if it wasn't for Cech’s penalty save a few minutes before. It was his first FA Cup as Chelsea went on to win the cup and league Double for the first time.

Arsenal vs Watford, 2017/18 (3-0)

Cech saved a penalty again, this time for Arsenal. It was a routine 3-0 win for the Gunners but it was a historical moment for Cech as he went on to become the first ever goalkeeper to keep 200 clean sheets since the start of the Premier League.

Chelsea vs FC Barcelona, 2011/12 (1-0)

Chelsea's man of the match by a mile. No one believed that Chelsea could match up against the Catalans but it was Cech who helped the Blues keep a clean sheet after a string of saves in the first leg and set up the second leg, which Chelsea drew.

Chelsea vs Bayern Munich, 2011/12 (1-1, Chelsea won on penalties)

Again it was Didier Drogba who took the headlines but it was Cech who put in a masterclass performance. Cech saved an Arjen Robben penalty in extra-time to take the match to penalties. In the shoot-out, he saved twice, from Ivica Olic and Bastian Schweinsteiger as Drogba scored the decisive penalty to win the trophy and Chelsea's first ever Champions League title.
