Mason Greenwood has three goals in the last 4 games, and the youngster is aiming to close the season on a pretty high note. Mason Greenwood is often mentioned when discussing the next wave of charismatic young footballers, and he could help United win a trophy this season.

Greenwood wasn't even in the best of shape this season and hasn't had much playing time. The Englishman had a strong run towards the end of the 19/20 season, scoring 10 goals. However, he has just five goals this season, and with just six games left, it seems that he will not be able to match his count from last season. Two weeks ago, the twenty-year-old exploded onto the scene against Spurs. Greenwood only came on for the final 11 minutes of the game, but he was instrumental in United's victory, setting up Edinson Cavani for a diving header and then scoring one himself in the added time.

His outstanding performance earned him a starting spot in United's next match. Greenwood struck the opener before the half, and despite Burnley equalizing and chasing the game for a draw, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's confidence was rewarded; Greenwood converted once more in the 84th minute to clinch the three points for the Red Devils.

Greenwood's late-season form has hit once more, with two goals and one assist in four games. Greenwood's form has been much appreciated in Manchester even as games start to look thick and heavy. After winning 2-0 in both legs versus Granada FC, United's Europa League hopes are still alive. In a season, muddled by the pandemic, United face Roma this week for the Semi-Finals of the Europa League.

Greenwood has shown he can make a great difference off the bench, which is just what Solskjaer wants in his squad if his team is to compete for Europa League glory. In close semi-finals, having a large number of fresh and active players would contrast the different teams – and Greenwood maybe that difference. Also, with Euros approaching, Greenwood will be trying to impress Gareth Southgate at every chance. Greenwood was injured and missed the under-21 qualifiers last month, but if he continues to play well, he might earn a spot in the squad.

But his battle won’t be that easy with Harry Kane already booked for that place. Dominic Calvert Lewin, Ollie Watkins, Danny Ings, Patrick Bamford and Jamie Vardy (even though he hasn’t been called since 2018). Now it is to see how Greenwood takes his chances and if Southgate and Ole can be sure to believe in him, to run down the right-wing.
