One of the Best Football leagues in the World. Check.

Putting out quality football even during the Pandemic. Check.

Plethora of big-name transfers, who don’t seem to catch the eye. Hmm, Double Check.

Now, we all know the amount of unpredictability and the entertainment provided by the Premier League and certainly the big money transfers can sometimes come out to be what was unexpected of them. Most teams have a habit of spending and it wasn’t overly impeded as many clubs continued to deal, coming to a crazed crescendo not without its usual share of fervor and fan hysteria. This ultimately resulted in big money transfers who haven’t been able to strike even after 25% of all matches have been played.

We list some players, who haven’t done something to justify their price tag or the wage they are drawing

Gedson Fernandes – Benfica to Tottenham Hotspur

The Portuguese even though a talented prospect, has still failed to meet the expectations that was set upon him. He was intended to fill the void left by Christian Eriksen after he moved to Inter Milan.  Fernandes was signed from SL Benfica (for an undisclosed fee). But so far Fernandes has featured in only four Premier League games as a substitute. He hasn’t been able to prove his mark with the team till now.

Nabil Bentaleb – Schalke 04 to Newcastle United

Bentaleb is on loan from the Bundesliga team Schalke 04, and the return to the Premier League has been pretty hard on the Algerian International. He has featured in only three Premier League matches till now, all of which Newcastle United managed to lose. It is of course difficult for him to break into the team’s starting line-up, but he isn’t willing to lose his focus and enthusiasm. He loves the fans (“They are unbelievable”) and is “really proud to play for this club”.

Takumi Minamino – Red Bull Salzburg to Liverpool

So far, the Japanese attacker has made just three appearances, as a substitute for the PL Winners. This shouldn’t surprise the known football fan as he is up against Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino. Minamino stated for Liverpool’s official website that he is still “learning to fully understand the team”, and that he is “doing his best every day in order to make an instant impact and make a contribution to the team”. With the recent injury and the virus crisis at Anfield, Minamino might get his much-needed opportunity.

Tosin Adarabioyo - Manchester City to Fulham

Fulham paid more attention in their defense this season and wanted to add greater quality and depth with the signing of the 23-year-old Manchester City academy graduate. Highly touted in the academy ranks, it’s possible the transfer can be a big positive for Adarabioyo while also being the exact wrong kind of move. With no guarantee of him starting under Scott Parker and Fulham’s leaky records, it might just not be the perfect move for a player with high potential.
