British F1 Grand Prix 2022 Results

The British Grand Prix at Silverstone is the yearly tradition that all Formula 1 fans look forward to each year and especially Lewis Hamilton as he has a stellar record at this Grand Prix. The 2022 British Grand Prix saw a lot of firsts happening starting with the winner and then the podium itself. This was a race where a scary accident also happened but thankfully the driver involved did not get hurt badly. Formula 1 jas grown in me over the past year and each race is more thrilling than the last.

Before we talk about the race itself it will be right to talk about Qualifying and the places in the Grid that the drivers were starting the race on. It was raining during Qualifying time and the drivers did their best. Let’s talk about the Qualifying and the Race below.

Qualifying

This was one of the hardest qualifying sessions of the year as it was pouring and the drivers had to come out 3 times in that rain for 15 minutes each and by the time the Q3 session got over we got Carlos Sainz who took the first pole of his career in his 150th race in his career. Max Verstappen was second and they were the first 2 on the starting grid for the race on Sunday.

The Race

The race started with over 142000 fans in attendance which is crazy and in the first lap itself there was a red flag because Zhou Guanyu was involved in a bad crash and he had to be taken out of the race and so it was a horrid start to the race. The race was stopped and rightfully so and all the fans were hoping for Zhou Guanyu to be healthy first and then the race to restart again. In Lap 6 of the race Sergio Perez pitted to get a new set of wheels. At lap 12 Carlos Sainz took the lead back from Max Verstappen and from there on it was no stopping the Spaniard. At Lap 24 of the race Lewis Hamilton was in 2nd place and was only 1.5 seconds behind race leader Charles Leclerc. The home crowd were fully behind Lewis. At Lap 28 Pierre Gasly had to retire from the race making him the 5th driver who had to retire from this race. At Lap 32 Charles Leclerc is allowed to go past Carlos Sainz for P2 in the race and Lewis Hamilton had to pit as well now. At lap 39, there was a virtual safety car which allowed Carlos Sainz and Lewis Hamilton to pit and go for soft tyres. At Lap 44 Carlos Sainz flew past Charles Leclerc to go into 1st and Sergio Perez out of nowhere got into second place and from there It was these 2 and Lewis Hamilton but in Lap 46 Lewis Hamilton jumps into P2 and by the end of the race it was Carlos Sainz who won his first Grand Prix with Sergio Perez at P2 and Lewis Hamilton got the 3rs spot.
