Carlos Sainz to remain with Ferrari until 2024

After having a good start this season, with two podiums and one early retirement in the Australian GP. The Spaniard has been awarded a new 2-year contract which extends until 2024 ending parallel with his teammate Leclerc.

"I am very happy to have renewed my contract with Scuderia Ferrari. I have always said that there is no better Formula 1 team to race for and after over a year with them, I can confirm that putting on this race suit and representing this team is unique and incomparable,” said Sainz. Mattia Binotto believes the signing of Carlos Sainz for 2021 has made Ferrari's line-up of the Spaniard alongside Charles Leclerc the best on the grid.

While Ferrari usually signs experienced champions to their team, the Sainz/Leclerc line-up is particularly unusual for the Scuderia.

"That's my personal judgment. They are both very young, which is great because somehow, as we said, we are trying to create solid foundations for the future. So having young drivers, that's important but they are already experienced” Mattio Binotto.

With the new F1-75 proving to be a championship-winning car, Sainz is looking forward to the remaining season with already two podiums and a DNF in hand; he sits at the third position in the driver’s champaions ship.
