IPL is the world's biggest cricketing event happening in India. A captain must be always on the top with his extraordinary leadership skills in a T20 tournament as the game can change in a few balls. Many amazing captaining and leadership moments can be found from the history of the IPL which shows us how a leader should take care of the crisis situation. But there are examples where captains have failed to lead his party of the winner's podium too. IPL 2020 is making its way during coronavirus pandemic, get ready with the records on the tip.

Here are the five captains with the most number of losses in IPL  history:

Mahela Jayawardhana:

This cricketing legend and prolific run-taker from Srilanka, who was also the former captain of the national side, couldn't continue his success in IPL. Jayawardhana has captained three IPL teams and the performances from all these teams are pathetic. Jayawardhana captained the Punjab team in the 2010 season of IPL and the team, completed as last on the point table.

Leading as the captain of Kochi Tuskers Kerala, the team completed the season at 8th position of 10 teams. Jayawardhana also captained Delhi Daredevils for the 2012 and 2013 seasons. Both these seasons turned out to be a disaster for DD. Jayawardhana has bagged 10  victories and 19 losses for a total of 30 matches that he played as the captain.

Kumar Sangakara:

Just like his countrymen Jayaeardhana, Sangakkara also has a bad history of captaining the IPL teams. He has captained three IPL teams. In the second season of IPL, he captained Punjab kings XI and managed to have 7 wins and 7 losses. The team missed the semi-final on the basis of the run rate. In the season of 2012, he captained Deccan Chargers and the team ended up as the last positioners on the table. Sangakkara was replaced by Cameron White as the captain of SRH in 2013 after the loss in 4 matches in a row.

Matches played as captain: 47

Won: 15

Loss: 30

Brendon McCullum:

McCullum is considered as one of the most destructive batsmen and the best captain New Zealand has ever had. But his history as the captain in IPL is not that prolific. McCullum has led a total of 10 matches in 14 matches in IPL, out of which the team won only 3. He was the captain of the franchise KKR in the season 2009 and the team finished as the last positioners in the table. He also led a match for Gujarat Lions substituting Suresh Raina and the team suffered a loss of 144 runs against Bangalore Royal Challengers.

Aaron Finch:

One of the most talented and destructive batsmen in the history of  T20 cricket, Aaron Finch has captained the franchise Pune Warriors in the IPL. He was the captain of the team in the year 2013. He had the huge responsibility of taking the team to great success ad the team finished last in their previous season. But Pune Warriors only finished second from the last in this season which was the last season the team has played in IPL.

Kevin Peterson:

One of the most celebrated cricket players in English cricket, Kevin Peterson has a very tragic history of captaining teams in the IPL. Peterson was the most expensive player in the 2009 season with a price of 1.5 million dollars playing for the team Bangalore Royal Challengers. But the team only managed to score 2 victories out of the 6 matches played. He has also captained DD 2010, which was a much worse situation for KP. DD finished last in the point table with the only win.

Matches played as captain: 17

Won: 3

Loss: 14
