But some bowlers have consistently created magic with the balls in this league for a long time. These bowlers are known to dominate any batting line-up and play very important role for their team bowling line-up.

5. Ravichandran Ashwin: 180 wickets 

Former Indian off-spinner Ravinchandran Ashwin is in the joint fifth place with 180 wickets in 212 IPL matches. He is one of the best spinners in international cricket history and he has maintained this level in the Indian Premier League.

Caribbean off-spinner Sunil Narine, who is now popular as an all-rounder for his aggressive batting in the powerplay along with his controlled bowling performances. The long-term player for Kolkata Knight Riders has taken 180 wickets in 177 IPL matches, and he will continue his image in next few years at least. 

4. Bhuvneshwar Kumar: 181 wickets

Till the end of the IPL 2024, the right-arm pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar hold the record for the second most IPL wicket-taker as a pacer but most IPL wicket-taker as an Indian pacer. After playing 176 IPL matches, he picked up 181 wickets. Kumar is popular for his unplayable swing bowling skills. 



3. Dwayne Bravo: 183 wickets 


West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo showed some amazing bowling performances in IPL history. He joined the IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in 2011 from Mumbai Indians (MI) and has been part of their four IPL titles successes. Appearing in a total of 161 IPL matches, the right-arm pacer bagged a total of 183 wickets in his name. He was also the purple cap winner in the IPL seasons 2013 and 2015.

  

2. Piyush Chawla: 192 wickets 


Indian leg-spinner Piyush Chawla played the IPL till 2024 while he was unsold in the mega auctions for the IPL 2025. He is the second leading wicket-taker in IPL history, at least till the end of the IPL 2024, as the leggie collected 192 wickets in 192 IPL matches. While Kolkata Knight Riders won their second IPL trophy in the 2014 edition, Chawla had an important role for the KKR. 

 

1. Yuzvendra Chahal: 205 wickets 

Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal holds the record for the most IPL wickets with 205 wickets. During the IPL 2024, the leggie created history by becoming the first bowler in IPL history to complete 200 wickets. He has taken 205 wickets in 160 IPL matches and surely wants to carry on his historic bowling performances for next few more years.
