Strengths:

Batting has always been their strength from the first season of IPL. They have got the best white ball cricketer in the form of Virat Kohli. If he gets going it will be hard for the opposition to contain him. The left hand right hand combination of Parthiv Patel and Virat has performed well for them in the previous season.

Moeen Ali and AB de Villiers are their two key players in the middle order. ABD is looking to make a comeback in South African white ball setup. They have included Aaron finch who can bat at the top of the order and also in the middle order.

They have got two good all-rounder’s in the form of Pawan Negi and Chris Morris. Shivam Dube and Chris Morris are two potential match finishers for RCB in this season.

Weaknesses:

Lack of quality death bowlers has hurt RCB over the years. Umesh Yadav and M.Siraj have been expensive over the past few years. They leaked too many runs between the over no 16 to 20. Navdeep Saini has got the ability to bowl really good Yorkers.

He can be a good option at the death overs. Lack of experienced backup to the spinner’s Yuzi Chahal and Washington Sundar could also hurt RCB if any one of them gets injured or shows poor form.

Opportunities:

Devdutt Padikkal a young 19 year old impressed everyone with his stellar performance in Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy while representing Karnataka. He scored heavily for Karnataka at top of the order.

He can be a good option to open the innings for RCB with finch. Pavan Deshpande is another player to watch out for in this year’s IPL. He represents Karnataka in domestic cricket. He will be looking to make the most out of this opportunity.

Threats:

RCB have always been over dependent on Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. If any one of them gets injured or goes through poor form it would cost RCB badly. Both of them needs to be at their best if RCB is looking to win their first IPL trophy.

They have always struggled to perform in crunch situation. Their team crumbles under pressure in knockout matches. RCB seem to have all the ingredients to a successful team. But in the end, it all comes down to how they play together and under pressure.
