One of the most famous leagues across the world, the thirteenth edition of IPL is set to begin from 19, September 2020.  It will be played in the UAE. All teams are gearing up for the new season of IPL. SRH won their first IPL title in the year 2016 under the leadership of David Warner. They finished as runner-up in the year 2018.

New Additions:

Priyam Garg, Virat Singh, Mitchell Marsh, Fabian Allen, Sandeep Bavanaka, Sanjay Yadav, Abdul Samad

Players bought in: SEVEN

Full squad:

Kane Williamson, David Warner, Manish Pandey, Virat Singh, Priyam Garg, Abdul Samad, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Khaleel Ahmed, Sandeep Sharma, Siddharth Kaul, Billy Stanlake, T Natarajan, Abhishek Sharma, Shahbaz Nadeem, Mitchell Marsh, Fabian Allen, Vijay Shankar, Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan, Sanjay Yadav, Jonny Bairstow, Wriddhiman Saha, Shreevats Goswami, Bavanaka Sandeep.

Strengths:

David Warner’s captainship has been magnificent from previous five editions. SRH reached playoffs five times in a row from 2015 IPL season. Warner has always led from the front. Warner and Bairstow were unstoppable as an opening pair in the previous edition.

These two have done bulk of the scoring last year. At no 3 and 4 they have got great international experience of Kane Williamson and Manish Pandey. The pace attack will be led by Bhuvneshwar Kumar. He will be used as a death over specialist.

SRH have got one of the best leg spinners in the shortest format of the game-Rashid Khan. He will be very useful on spinner friendly UAE wickets.

Weaknesses:

SRH doesn’t have a proper finisher in their squad. Deepak Hooda and Yusuf Pathan used to do a finishers job for SRH in previous editions. This time they left out both of them to bring some new players.

Players like Virat Singh and Priyam Garg are brought in. But these players are really young and haven’t being tested at this level. The role of a finisher might be given to the Mitchell Marsh or Rashid Khan.

Opportunities:

Players like Priyam Garg and Virat Singh got a great opportunity to showcase their talent at the big stage. Abhishek Sharma a young lad from Punjab was a member of under-19 india team which lifted the wc in 2018.

Abhishek has impressed everyone with his 19 ball 46 in his debut match against RCB in 2018. He has got a great opportunity this year to perform at the big stage.

A good IPL season for Siddhart Kaul and Khaeel Ahmed will put them in a contention for India’s limited overs squad.

Threats:

SRH lacks variety in their spin bowling department. Apart from Rashid Khan who is a T-20 specialist their team doesn’t have any other spinner who can work in tandem with Rashid.

If Rashid Khan gets injured SRH doesn’t have a strong reliable backup in their squad. Abhishek Sharma is young and he doesn’t bowl that much. If they perform to their full potential they have a good chance to win this IPL.
