Fastest deliveries in IPL history

This is one topic which I have wanted to do for a while but now feels like the right time as firstly Swiggy has brought an award for fastest ball for every match so that keeps the fans looking out for the fastest ball every match and the fact that Umran Malik of the Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lockie Ferguson of the Gujarat Titans win this award every time they bowl made me curious to see which are the 10 fastest nalla in IPL history and all speeds in this list are over the 153.5 kmph mark.

Bowling fast is an art that not everyone has and those who have it are box office and seeing the ball get to the batter so fast is exhilarating for the viewers. There have been some serious balls that have been bowled at record speeds and the bowlers are the ones which we would expect. I will provide the detailed facts in the later part of this article but I just hope that someday someone breaches the 160 kmph mark in the IPL soon. Let’s look at the 10 Fastest Balls in IPL history.

Shaun Tait (157.1 kmph)

This rocket by the Aussie fast bowler Shaun Tait is still the fastest ball in IPL history even after 11 years of him bowling it. This is remarkable and Shaun Tait was well known for going over the 155 kmph mark consistently and in this match against the Delhi Daredevils he bowled this delivery to his fellow Aussie teammate Aaron Finch and when he was a part of the Rajasthan Royals franchise in the IPL.

Umran Malik (157 Kmph)

When I wrote this article then Umran Malik did not bowl this rocket of a ball in IPL 2022 and now that he has it has to be included straight at the number 2 spot ahead of Anrich Nortje who had the fastest ball of the IPL from 2020 season but Umran Malik Bowled this ball to Rovman Powell of Delhi Capitals and he hit it for a 4 but seeing an Indian in the Top 2 of this list is pleasing to see and hope Umran breaks the number 1 spot soon.

Anrich Nortje (156.22 kmph)

Anrich Nortje will feature on this list a lot I’d times and he has good reason for doing so. It was the 2020 season of the IPL and then he was not the same Anrich Nortje we know now but was willing to prove to everyone how special he was. This Ball that we are talking about came against Rajasthan Royals and Nortje was in great form buf this ball of 156.22 was scooped over for 4 by Jos Buttler. It was an unbelievable shot by the Englishman.

Umran Malik (155.60 Kmph)

The number 4 on this list is also taken up by Umran Malik and in the same match that he bowled the 157 rocket,he Bowled this 155.60 ball to Rovman Powell again who again hit it for a 4 because the line and length was not good from Umran. He consistently bowls over the 150 mark and is the fastest Bowler in the world and that is an awesome stat.

Anrich Nortje (155.21 kmph)

The third fastest ball in IPL history also goes to the South African and this ball was the response ball from Nortje who had just been hit for a 4 and this ball was at 155.21 kmph and it went straight to the stumps and castled over Jos Buttler and an enjoyable battle came to an end.

Umran Malik (154.80 Km/h)

Once again in the 5th spot is taken by Umran Malik and once again it came against Delhi Capitals and in the same over vs Rovman Powell and he smashed him all around the ground but seeing him run so fast and he will get better in his line and length but an Indian has taken 3 spots in the Top 10 of this prestigious list and that is amazing.

Anrich Nortje (154.74 kmph)

Anrich Nortje was in peak fast bowling form bs the Rajasthan in this match in IPL 2020 and after bowling the 2 fastest balls by a South African bowler to Jos Butter he proceeded to bowl another one at 154.74 kmph and thus erutuyhia name in the history books and earning respect from all his peers and fans.

Dale Steyn (154.4 kmph)

The fifth fastest ball in IPL history goes to the legend from South Africa in Dale Steyn. It looks like the South African fast bowlers loved bowling fast in the IPL. Dale Steyn held this record for 8 years before it was broken by Anrich Nortje. This delivery by Dale Steyn was bowled in a match against Deccan Chargers and he Bowled at 154.40 kmph.

Kagiso Rabada (154.23 kmph)

The next bowler on this list is another South Africa fast bowler and he is among the best in the world currently and his name is Kagiso Rabada. He holds the record for the 6th fastest ball in IPL history at 154.23 kmph and it came in the 2020 season of the IPL.

Anrich Nortje (154.21 kmph)

At number 7 is once again Anrich Nortje and he is just short by 0.2 kmph and thus he is behind Kagiso Rabada on this list and this ball also came against Rajasthan Royals and it came in the same over in which he bowled 156.22 kmph, 155.21 kmph and 154.74 kmph. It was an extraordinary over of fast bowling and the likes of which we Will rarely see again. This Ball of 154.21 kmph was the 4th fastest ball of that over.
