Paris 2024 Olympics Sarabjot Singh Secures Indian Quota For Men's 10m Air Pistol

The 22-year-old Sarabjot Singh secured the first Indian quota in the pistol event for the Paris 2024 Olympics after shining with a bronze medal in the men’s 10m air pistol event at the Asian Shooting Championships 2023 in Changwon, the Republic of Korea.

On October 24, Sarabjot Singh won the bronze medal in the men’s 10m air pistol event at the Asian Shooting Championships 2023 after finishing with 221.1 points. Due to a .4 points difference, he couldn’t compete in the final round of the 2nd competition stage, where Chinese shooters Zhang Yifan and Liu Jinyao battled for the gold medal.

Yifan won the gold medal with 243.7 points, while Jinyao slipped down to the silver medal by finishing with 242.1 points.

How did Sarabjot Singh secure the Indian quota in the men’s 10m air pistol event for the Paris 2024 Olympics?

As China had already completed a maximum of two quotas in the men’s 10m air pistol event in the earlier qualifications, Sarabjot comfortably secured India’s first quota in the pistol event for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

However, it doesn’t mean that Sarabjot Singh has booked his place for the Paris 2024 Olympics. For the shooting event, the National Olympic Committee has the exclusive authority to make the final decision on the national representatives at the upcoming Summer Olympics.

Who is Sarabjot Singh?

In the Asian Games 2022 in Hangzhou (China), Sarabjot Singh was a part of the gold medallist Indian 10m air pistol men’s team and silver medallist Indian 10m air pistol mix team.

At the ISSF World Cup 2023 in Bhopal, Sarabjot won the crown in the men’s 10m air pistol event. He was also a member of the gold medallist Indian men’s 10m air pistol mix team event at the ISSF World Cup 2023 in Baku.
