Brazilian athlete Alison dos Santos lifted the maiden men’s 400m hurdles title in the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship, which Budapest (Hungary) is hosting in 2026.
The world record holder (pending ratification) Alison completed the hurdle race in under 46 seconds, by reaching 45.98 seconds. Although the American Raj Benjamin produced his season-best finish by completing it in 46.40 seconds, it wasn’t enough for him to win the historic crown. Norwegian Karsten Warholm (46.78) secured third place, while the fourth-placed Emil Agyekum (47.10) from Germany set a new national record.

Who is Alison dos Santos?
Alison dos Santos from Brazil is currently the world record holder (pending ratification) in the men’s 400m hurdles event with 45.80 seconds finish. While he set the new world record last August, he holds three Diamond League titles (2022, 2024, and 2026) and one World Athletics Championships gold medal in the men’s 400m hurdles event. In both the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Summer Olympics, he earned bronze medals.
