American athlete Kenny Bednarek created history in the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship, as he became the first athlete to win double titles in the tournament's history. After winning the men’s 100m event on Saturday, Bednarek set a new world-leading record to win the men’s 200m event on Sunday.
On Sunday, Bednarek finished the 200m event in 19.52 seconds to set a new world-leading record. Letsile Tebogo from Botswana (19.76) and Courtney Lindsey from the United States (19.79) had their season-best finishes to secure the next two places. South African Sinesipho Dambile (19.91) and Canadian Andre De Grasse (19.92) also completed the race in under 20 seconds.
