The World Athletics Championships 2025 produced another special men’s hammer throw event, which will remain memorable. While it has been running since the inaugural edition of the Championship, the National Stadium in Tokyo, Japan, hosted the latest event.

There were two rounds for the men’s hammer throw event in the World Athletics Championships 2025. While the Qualification round was scheduled on 15th September, the Final was scheduled on 16th September.

Final  

Canadian Ethan Katzberg defended his Championship gold medal by setting the new Championship record in the men’s hammer throw event. While he is the only Canadian to win a Championship medal in this event, he became the sixth athlete to win multiple Championship gold medals in this event. 


While German athlete Merlin Hummel won the silver medal, he became the first German to win a medal in this Championship event since the 2007 edition. In the meantime, Hungarian Bence Halász retained his Championship bronze medal.
