  • Spanish athlete María Pérez, who also won the women’s 35km race walk event in the World Athletics Championships 2025, became the third athlete to defend the Championship gold medal in the women’s 20km race walk event by winning successive titles with her season-best performance. 

  • While Mexican Alegna González set an Area Record to secure the silver medal, Nanako Fuji recorded Japan’s first Championship medal in the women’s 20km race walk event by claiming the bronze medal.
