Top 5 Best PV Sindhu Performances

Now we will talk about the best performances of our athletes other than cricket and we will start with the champion of champions PV Sindhu and she has delivered so many spectacular performances that it will be difficult to choose the Top 5 and that makes this list fun to make. PV Sindhu is one of those rare athletes that gets more and more popular every time she plays. She is known to every Indian and we all watch her whenever she plays.

Before we talk about the Top 5 Best Performances of PV Sindhu till now it is important to note that her best years are most probably ahead of her and we will make a new list in a few years time but for now let’s get to the Top 5 list.

2016 Olympic Silver Medal

Even though PV Sindhu lost in the final of the Rio Olympics by a close margin, the silver medal that she won in the Rio Olympics was something that catapulted her to super stardom. She was an underdog in this tournament and the way she kept on winning big Matches was incredible to see. In the Quarter Final she beat Wang Yihan of China in straight sets 22-20 and 21-19 and in the semi final she beat the great Nozumi Okuhara 21-19 and 21-10 and in the final she lost in 3 sets 19-21, 21-12 and 21-15 but a new star was born.

2019 World Championship Gold Medal

The second best performance of PV Sindhu according to me is the 2019 World Championship Gold Medal that she won in convincing fashion and made it look like she was on a different level than all the other World Class players that were playing that year. In the semi final of that event she beat Chen Yufei of China in dominating fashion 21-14 and 21-7 and in the final she saved her best for last as she crushed her great rival Nozumi Okuhara by 21-7 and 21-7 and won the World Championship Gold Medal.

2020 Olympics Bronze Medal

She won her second back to back Olympic Medal at the Tokyo Olympics and she had to do it the hard way as she had a tougher tournament than the last time. In the Quarter Final she beat Akane Yamaguchi of Japan by 21-13 and 22-20 but in the semi final she lost to Tai Tzu Ying by 21-18 and 21-12 but in the Bronze Medal match she came back in style and won her match by 21-13 and 21-15. This is also among her 5 best performances.

2022 Commonwealth Games Gold Medal

This is at number 4 and this is here for a number of reasons, first thus Gold Medal was elusive to Sindhu and she wanted to win it and finally she did it but more importantly she had a bad ankle injury during the tournament but still she persevered for India and best world class opponents in the semi final and the final. She has her toughest match in the Quarter Final where she faced Goh Jin Wei of Malaysia and it was a 3 set thriller which Sindhu won by 19-21, 21-14 and 21-18. In the semi final she faced Yeo Jin Min of Singapore and she beat her in 2 sets 21-19 and 21-17 and finally in the final she beat Michelle Li of Canada 21-15 and 21-13 to win the Gold Medal in commonwealth games 2022.

2018 Asian Games Silver Medal

The last performance in my list is the 2018 Asian Games Gold Medal and this is one of toughest medals to win because all the great badminton players are from Asia. Sindhu won each match till the final, in the Quarter Final she won her match by 21-11, 16-21 and 21-14 and in the semi final it was another 3 setter as she took on Akane Yamaguchi and she won 21-17 ,15-21 and 21-2/ but in the final she lost her match but won an excellent silver Medal for India.
