India at Commonwealth Games 2026 Day 2 Results

Just at the end of Day 2 in the Commonwealth Games 2026 (Glasgow, Scotland), 24th July 2026, India officially claimed its first medal. While some other Indians closely failed to add a few more medals, some other athletes just failed to bring out their best performances.

Artistic Gymnastics 

Men’s team event final: In the men’s team all-around final event, India finished in seventh position with a score of 208.550 points. Canada won the gold medal with 241.400 points, while England (238.250 points) and Australia (235.650 points) secured the silver and bronze medals, respectively. 


Men’s individual all-around: Tapan Mohanty (71.700 points, 17th place) and Yogeshwar Singh (71.400 points, 18th place) qualified for the men’s individual all-around final, which has been scheduled to be organized on 26th July 2026.


Men’s apparatus events: Indian gymnasts failed to secure any places for the men’s apparatus events final, which was qualification for any of these individual events: floor, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars, and horizontal bar.


Lawn Bowls 

Men’s singles sectional play: In section D, Indian Putul Sonowal claimed his second consecutive victory through another tiebreaker, where he this time defeated Falkland Islands’ Cecil Alexander.


Women’s pairs sectional play: In section B, Indians Rupa Rani Tirkey (lead) and Pinki Singh (skip) beat South Africans J.J. van Rensburg and Elinah Muvhango by 2-0 (6-4; 7-5) and claimed their second straight win.


Swimming 

Men’s 50m backstroke: By clocking 25.52 seconds in the heat, Srihari Nataraj finished in fifth position to qualify for the semifinals. However, on the same day, he failed to advance to the final after finishing in seventh place in the semifinals by completing the race in 25.59 seconds.


Para Swimming

Men’s 100m freestyle S13: Both Ravi Veera Venkata Budigina (S13) and Ali Imam (S12) qualified for the final after finishing in 57.10 and 1:05.32, respectively, in the heat. However, Budigina narrowly missed the medal by finishing in fourth place (57.57), and Ali finished in seventh place (1:03.73).


Boxing

Men’s 55kg Round of 16: Indian Jadumani Singh defeated Aaron Cullen from Scotland with a dominant performance (5-0) and has advanced to the quarterfinals.


Para-powerlifting

Men’s lightweight category: Ashok Kumar Malik closely missed out on the podium finish after he finished in fourth position (143.8), and Paramjeet Malik managed seventh place (135.6).


Women’s lightweight category: Jaspreet Kaur (96.4 points) and Suman Devi (88.4) finished in sixth and seventh places, respectively.


Women’s heavyweight category: Kasthuri Rajamani ended her campaign without securing any successful lifts (attempting 111 kg, 111 kg, and 112 kg). 


Men’s heavyweight category: In the late drama, Jhandu Kumar slipped from the top place but secured India’s first medal in the CWG 2026, as he won the bronze medal after finishing in third place (130.9 kg). Meanwhile, desperate Sudhir finished in sixth place with 114.1 points.
