2nd February, 2014 – It was the day when England team one of the worst campaigns of the Ashes Series came to an end. Out of 13 games on the tour, England has only managed to win 1 game of the tour (4th ODI game) except that it was all about the Australia team and enigma Mitchell Johnson who has intimidated every English batsman who tried to stand, Johnson way. The left-arm fast bowler, Mitchell Johnson has put such fear into the batsman minds of getting injured that some of them decided to skip the tour mid-way like Jonathon Trott after the first test match didn't feature in test series while players like Kevin Pietersen took retirement straight after the series. Cricket is a team game and it is the very rare sight in the modern-day-era-cricket (which favours the batsman more over bowler) when the one player took the series by tornado, Mitchell Johnson breached the defense of every English batsman in the series start from the first test match and put them into the shambles from where opposition team never recovered from it. The first test match at Brisbane, Gabba Australia posted 295 runs in the first innings after winning the toss which also include Mitchell Johnson valuable 64 runs and crucial partnership with Brad Haddin for seventh wicket after at one stage Australia was 132/6. Mitchell Johnson first spell was not very good enough where he was in effective to stop runs but with the return of his second spell Johnson took the stage and announced himself with 4 wickets for 61 runs in the first innings while 5 wickets for 42 runs in the second innings as the visitors unable to cross the 200-run-mark in the match and lost the game.

37 wickets 5 tests 13.97, Mitchell Johnson was awarded with Man of the Series for this surreal performance. Earlier, Johnson also received three Man of the match awards in the test series also. Not just with bowl Mitchell Johnson has contributed with bat too in the series and took the bail of team when it was needed. Australia won the 2013 test series by 5-0 and repeat the feat after the Ashes series 2006-07, when they have defeated England 5-0 under the captaincy of Ricky Ponting and players like Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath and Brett Lee. Australia team dominate the English batsman throughout the 2013 ashes series in almost every department. They have batted 4 times first in test series and won by massive runs of 381 runs, 218 runs, 150 runs and 281 runs. While in the fourth test match, in which Australia has field first they came out as victorious by 8-wickets.

Mitchell Johnson was probably in the best form of his career in that series where his rhythm to trouble the batsman with his bouncers and extreme pace was on the complete different level and made the people watched his bowling performances on the loop. David Warner was the highest run-scorer for Australia with 525 runs in test series at an average of 58.11. While in the limited overs cricket, Australia won the ODI series by 4-1 and T20l series by 3-0 easily to outplayed the visitors.
