On 5th October, 2019, Rohit Sharma became the first Indian cricketer to hit 9 sixes in a single Test match against South Africa, in Vizag. He broke Navjot Singh Sidhu's record of 8 sixes in a single test match(1994, Lucknow). While this record is based in India, we have brought to you a list of top 5 cricketers around the world to hit most number of sixes in a single Test match.


  1. Wasim Akram (12 sixes): This Pakistani stalwart is not only good with ball but also with bat. In 1996, in a test match against Zimbabwe, Akram scored 257 not out in their 1st innings which included 12 sixes. His 12th six broke a six-decade old record of Wally Hammond, who had a record of 11 sixes in a single test match.


  1. Nathan Astle (11 sixes): In 2002, at Christchurch, this New Zealand cricketer scored fastest double ton in just 153 balls against England. He scored total of 222 runs, which included 11 sixes. He played with a strike rate of 132.14 in their second innings of the game while he scored low in their first innings.


  1. Matthew Hayden (11 sixes): In 2003, this Aussie cricketer played his career best knock of 380 runs at Perth against Zimbabwe. Australia batted first in the first innings of the game where they put up a huge target for Zimbabwe. Hayden played with a strike rate of 86.95.


  1. Brendon McCallum (11 sixes): This New Zealand legend has hit 11 sixes two times in different test matches in the same year i.e. 2014. First, against Sri Lanka, in Christchurch, where he scored195 runs which included the 11 sixes. Second, against Pakistan, in Sharjah, where he scored 202 off 188 balls. Since then, he hadn't been able to break his own record.


  1. Ben Stokes (11 sixes): This English all-rounder scored 258 runs off 198 balls in Cape Town, against South Africa, 2016. He came down at no.6 and made a 399 run partnership with Jonny Bairstow, where Stokes had hit 11 sixes.

These were the top 5 cricketers with most 6s in a single Test match. Till now, no one has yet broken Wasim Akram's record, but looking at current generation of quality players, records are been made and broken in every matches.
