Is there any better way to enter the New Year with a name into the history books? Well Definitely not! Cricket is a game of uncertainties from the ages and many records have been created with many have broken. But creating the record on the first day of a year is a very special thing for a player in his career. The New Zealand left-handed batsman Corey Anderson has produced one of the most destructive hitting in cricket when his team was trailing by 1-0 during the 3rd ODI game of 5-match white-ball cricket series. The match was reduced to 21-21 overs after rain interrupted the play. The Visitors (West Indies) have won the toss and decided to bowl first like the first match and are looking to restrict the hosts (New Zealand) one more time at the low score. The second game was already white washed due to the rain so the game was important for the hosts in every sense.

New Zealand has opened the innings with Martin Guptill and Jesse Ryder but within the addition of 5 runs on the scoreboard Martin Guptill was caught behind by Ramdin on the delivery of Jason Holder. Then walked in the swashbuckling batsman Brendon McCullum who scored quick-fire (33 runs off 11 balls) which featured 3 fours and 3 sixes before leaving the score 56/2 for New Zealand. Towards the end of 8th over the scoreboard was 84/3 for New Zealand but still Jesse Ryder was on the crease who was joined by Corey Anderson. 13 overs were more to go in the first innings of New Zealand – 78 balls a human imagination cannot go beyond more than 120 runs or 130 runs. But what happened next was the complete exhibition of Surreal hitting in the ODI Cricket History. Corey Anderson and Jesse Ryder added on 191 runs partnership for the 4th wicket in just 75 balls to take the scoreboard to 283 runs for the loss of 4 Wickets in the 21 overs. The two left-handed batsmen went berserk against West Indies and stunned the cricketing fraternity across the globe. Corey Anderson entered the New year with the record fastest ODI hundred in the 36-ball while breaking the previous record of Shahid Afridi (37-ball 100 in the year 1996). Corey Anderson remained unbeaten on (131 runs off 47 balls) which featured 6 fours and 14 sixes. It was the same innings in which Jesse Ryder has hammered the 46-ball century while scoring (104 runs off 51 balls) which featured 12 fours and 5 sixes. Corey Anderson 14 sixes is the third highest number of sixes hit by a player in ODI cricket innings. In response the visitors (West Indies) has only managed to score 124 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the 21 overs. Corey Anderson was awarded with Man of the match for his record-breaking knock to level the series by 1-1. The next two games were won by both the teams to end up the ODI series at 2-2. But the Test series and T20l series has been won by New Zealand by 2-0.
