Headingley Cricket Ground, usually shortened to Headingley and known as Emerald Headingley Cricket Ground for sponsorship reasons, is cricket ground in the Headingley Stadium Complex in Leeds, England. It adjoins the Headingley Rugby Stadium through a shared main stand, although the main entrance to the cricket ground is at the opposite Kirkstall Lane end. It was established in the year 1890. And has hosted Test Cricket since 1899 and has a capacity of around 18,350. It is home to the Yorkshire County Cricket Club.
History:
The ground is named after a suburb in the city of Leeds and is linked to a Rugby League Ground, home of the Leeds Rhinos. Since the initial first-class match was held there in 1899, against Kent, Headingley spectators have witnessed some great feats. Arguably the most dramatic comeback in Test Cricket is when, in 1981, England beat Australia by 18 runs. England had followed on 227 runs behind and were 135 for 7 in their second innings before the combined heroics of Ian Botham, with the bat, and Willis, with the ball, beat odds of 500/1.
Ground:
The Headingley Cricket Ground is quite famous for the great comeback victories over the years. But the ground is a bit unorthodox in the way that it does not possess a Pavilion; players have to make do with a modern dressing room in the stands. The wicket is variable, and - particularly when there is cloud cover, too - aids Sean bowling. The two end names are Football Stand End and Kirkstall Lane End.

Tucked away in the sleepy backyards of Suburban Leeds, Headingley staged possibly the most dramatic comeback in Test cricket. Some great records at this particular ground include two-triple centuries by Don Bradman in 1930 and 1934. During the first innings, Bradman scored 309 runs of his eventual 334 in a single day, the only instance of 300 in a day in a test. The Surrey-Left hander John Edrich also made a Test Triple Hundred here, against New Zealand in 1965. And, fittingly, Geoff Boycott brought up his hundredth first-class hundred against Australia in 1977. In a game they had to win to stay in the 1999 Cricket World Cup, the eventual cup winners, Australia chased down South Africa's 271 for seven after being 48 for 3. Steve Waugh, who has been dropped by Herschelle Gibbs as he attempted to throw the ball up in celebration, scored 120 not out.

The first Test match was played between England and Australia on 29 June-1 July 1899. The leading run-getters on this ground are Don Bradman (963 runs), Geoff Boycott (897 runs) and John Edrich (849 runs). The leading wicket takers are Fred Trueman (44 wickets), Stuart Broad (42 wickets) and Bob Willis (40 wickets). The last test match at Headingley was played between England and Pakistan on 1-3 June 2018.
One-Day Internationals: The first ODI on Headingley was played between England and West Indies on 5 September 1973. The highest team total is 339 runs scored by England against South Africa in 2015. The highest run-getters in this particular format are Marcus Trescothick (408 runs), Eoin Morgan (395 runs) and Andrew Strauss (335 runs). The leading wicket takers are Chris Old (12 wickets), Ian Botham (11 wickets) and Andrew Flintoff (9 wickets). Headingley hosted is last ODI between England and Pakistan on 19 May 2019.
