Bangladesh emphatic win over New Zealand 1st T20I 2021

Not long ago, Bangladesh had once again proved their presence in cricket by defeating Australia 4-1 and this was probably the biggest series win in Bangladesh cricket history. But still the question arose that perhaps the time was with Bangladesh. The team was waiting for the opportunity and perhaps there is no better time than the current series of New Zealand when Bangladesh has done what has probably not happened till date in their history. In the current series of 5 matches, Bangladesh defeated New Zealand for the first time in T20 history and finally proved why it is the beginning of a new era.

You might have felt that a tough competition would have been seen but it is not so. The victory is special where Bangladesh got the opposition New Zealand all out for just 60 runs and continued their winning streak. Apart from the toss, everything turned out to be against New Zealand. After the initial blows, where Tom Latham and Henry Nicholls tried to strengthen New Zealand's innings, but they could not last long in front of the host's deadly bowling. New Zealand's score at the end of 4 overs was 4 wickets for 9 runs.

Adding 34 runs, Tom Latham and Henry Nicholls tried to bring New Zealand back into the match but Saifuddin dismissed Tom Latham and derailed the New Zealand innings. New Zealand lost their last 5 wickets in just 17 runs and were reduced to 60 runs in 16.5 overs which is their second lowest score. Earlier in 2014, New Zealand had scored 60 runs against Sri Lanka in the 20-20 over World Cup in Chittagong.

Host Bangladesh landed to chase the target of 61 runs, but where New Zealand tried to demolish the host's spirits by giving Bangladesh the first blow on the first ball of the second over. Just as Bangladesh's score had reached 7 runs, New Zealand tried to take the match on an exciting turn by giving them a second blow. But Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim steered the team to an easy 7-wicket victory over New Zealand in the first T20I.

Although Bangladesh had lost their third wicket in the form of Shakib Al Hasan on the score of 37, Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur Rahim did not lose any wicket after that. Where the reason for New Zealand’s defeat is not only their batting but also an inexperienced bowling unit. The hope is that New Zealand will come back like a team from here and would like to answer this defeat.
