Cricketers with ICC Mens T20I Cricketer of the Year Award

The ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year is a special annual award from the international governing body of the game, the International Cricket Council (ICC). ICC awards the best player of the latest completed year, who performed consistently and exceptionally.


The ICC ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year award was first introduced in 2022 when the award was given to the best player of the format in 2021.

ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year 2021: Mohammed Rizwan (Pakistan)  

Pakistan cricketer Mohammed Rizwan was the first cricketer to win the ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year award, which he won for his incredible batting performance in 2021. The right-handed batter was the first cricketer to score 1000+ T20I runs in a calendar year, as he scored 1326 runs in 26 innings in 2021 with an average of 73.66 and a strike rate of 134.89, including one century and 12 half-centuries. While Pakistan reached the semi-finals of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021, Rizwan was the third leading run-scorer by recording 281 runs in six innings (average 70.25; strike rate 127.72) with the help of three half-centuries. 


ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year 2022: Suryakumar Yadav (India)  

Suryakumar Yadav was the first Indian to win the ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year award in 2022. He was the second batter to record at least 1000 T20I runs in a calendar year with 1164 runs in 31 innings in 2022 with an average of 46.56 and a strike rate of 187.43, including two centuries and nine half-centuries. During the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia, Yadav was the third leading run-scorer with 239 runs in six innings with an average of 59.75 and a strike rate of 189.68, where he scored three half-centuries. 


ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year 2023: Suryakumar Yadav (India)  

This time Suryakumar Yadav created a new history by becoming the first cricketer to win the ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year award multiple times and that too in two successive years. In 2023, Yadav finished as the third-leading T20I run-scorer and the most among the Full Members with 733 runs in 17 innings with an average of 48.86 and a strike rate of 155.95, including two centuries and five half-centuries.


ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year 2024: Arshdeep Singh (India)  

Indian left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh became the second Indian to win the ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year award as he won it for his incredible bowling performances in 2024. Also, he became the first bowler to win this award. He finished the calendar year with 36 wickets in 18 T20Is, the fifth most T20I wickets in 2024, and the second most T20I wicket-taker among the Full Members in 2024. India won their second T20 World Cup in 2024, where Arshdeep finished as the joint-leading wicket-taker with 17 wickets in eight innings, which was also a joint record for most wickets in a single edition of the Men’s T20 World Cup history.
