Deodhar Trophy 2023, Day 4 : South Zone Reach The Final With Fourth Win; Central Zone And West Zone Win Other Matches

Deodhar Trophy 2023 day 4 South Zone Reach The Final With Fourth Win

At the end of the fourth day of the Deodhar Trophy 2023, South Zone comfortably advanced to the Final with their fourth straight win. Meanwhile, East Zone lost their first game in this competition. West Zone claimed their third victory in this tournament, while Central Zone recorded their first win. East Zone and West Zone fighting for the remaining other place in the competition Final.

East Zone suffered their first defeat in the Deodhar Trophy 2023 after unbeaten South Zone claimed their fourth successive victory in the tournament. While the winner of the match would secure a place in the Final, South Zone earned it with the five-wicket win.

After choosing to bat first, East Zone were bowled out for 229 runs in 46 overs. Opener Virat Singh scored 49 runs and the no.3 batter Subhranshu Senapati scored 44 runs.

Struggling on 143/8, the lower-order batters Akash Deep and Mukhtar Hussain had a 74-run partnership for the ninth wicket. While Akash scored 44 off 26 balls, Hussain scored 33 off 22 balls.

Among the South Zone bowlers, Vasuki Koushik (3/37) and Sai Kishore (3/45) had three wickets each. Also, Vidwath Kaverappa collected two wickets (2/40).

In reply, the skipper and opener Mayank Agarwal once again played a memorable knock of 84 runs in 88 balls with the help of six fours and only six. Also, the no.3 batter Sai Sudharsan scored 53 runs in 67 balls (four fours and only six). The other batters also provided crucial support as South Zone chased the target in 44.2 overs after losing five wickets.


North East Zone vs Central Zone (Check the brief scores below): Central Zone finally claimed its first win after a comfortable chase against North East Zone


Central Zone managed their first victory in the Deodhar Trophy 2023 after winning by eight wickets against North East Zone, who remained the only winless team in this competition.

After Central Zone chose to field first, North East Zone were bundled out for 164 runs in 49 overs. Only Ashish Thapa (31) and Kamsha Yangfo (35) reached the 30-run mark in that first innings.

Among the Central Zone bowlers, Aditya Sarwate got three wickets (3/19), while Saransh Jain (2/39) and Yash Kothari (2/4) had two wickets each.

In reply, though the opener Yash Kothari scored a two-ball duck, another opener Shivam Chaudhary and the no.3 batter Yash Dubey guided the team to the comfortable chasing. While Shivam scored 85 not out in 90 balls (seven fours and two six), Dubey scored 72 runs in 91 balls (seven fours and only six). Central Zone reached the target in 33 overs.


North Zone vs West Zone (Check the brief scores below): West Zone claimed a vital win to stay in the competition


In the day/night match, West Zone beat North Zone by six wickets to remain in the battle for the last remaining spot in the tournament final.

After North Zone chose to bat first, they scored 259/6 in 50 overs. Himanshu Rana and captain Nitish Rana both scored 54 runs each, while the middle-order batter Shubham Rohilla was not out on 56 runs.

Shams Mulani shined the day as the bowler for West Zone as he had the bowling figures of 10-0-29-3.

Chasing down the target, West Zone were losing wickets at regular intervals, while the opener Harvik Desai scored 56 runs.

But for the unbroken fifth wicket, Shivam Dube and Kathan Patel had the 138 runs partnership that helped West Zone to chase the target in 48.5 overs after losing four wickets. While Dube scored 83 not out off 78 balls (three fours and five sixes), Patel scored 63 not out in 85 balls (six fours).

North East Zone vs Central Zone (Day match)


North East Zone: 164 in 49 overs (Kamsha Yangfo 35, Ashish Thapa 31; Aditya Sarwate 3/19)

Central Zone: 165/2 in 33 overs (Shivam Chaudhary 85*, Yash Dubey 72; Imliwati Lemtur 1/39)

Result: Central Zone won by 8 wickets (with 102 balls remaining)


North Zone vs West Zone (Day/Night match)


North Zone: 259/6 in 50 overs (Shubham Rohilla 56*, Nitish Rana 54; Shams Mulani 3/39)

West Zone: 260/4 in 48.5 overs (Shivam Dube 83*, Kathan Patel 63*; Rishi Dhawan 1/30)

Result: West Zone won by 6 wickets (with 7 balls remaining)
