Emerging stars of IPL 2018

The Indian Premier League (IPL),  never fails to surprise you. It is the most popular T20 league in the world. The cash-rich league always unearths new talents. For the young cricketers, it is a stepping stone towards their dream to play for their national sides.


In this season of IPL lots of young players have showcased their skills in front of the world. Let’s take a look at some of the future stars in the world of cricket and their performances in the recently concluded IPL.


Rishabh Pant (Delhi Daredevils): The former U-19 player and also the captain of his state team Delhi. Has already represented India in T20 Internationals. The southpaw is known for his hard-hitting, attacking style of play. One thing has eluded him, that is his consistency. But, In this season of IPL, he has performed exceedingly well. This could be the breakthrough year of his career. Cricket experts around the world already started to compare him with M.S. Dhoni.



He definitely has the talent to emulate the great man. Playing for Daredevils Pant has scored 684 runs in 14 matches with an astonishing strike rate of close to 180. He batted with lots of responsibility and gave himself time to settle in before going for the big hits. With his consistent performance, he became the emerging player of the season as well. One hopes that Pant continues to perform like this and represent India more often in coming days.


Prithvi Shaw (Delhi Daredevils): Another promising youngster. Scored tons of runs in domestic cricket last season (2017-18). And also captained the U-19 Indian cricket team. Under his leadership, Indian clots won the ICC  U-19 Cricket world cup for the fourth time. Picked up by Delhi franchise in the auction for his calm and mature approach towards the game. Prithvi Shaw didn’t disappoint them, from the very first game, he has shown his class. We all know that he can play the longer format of the game. But in this tournament, Shaw showed to the world that he is equally lethal in the shortest format of the game as well.  



Shubman Gill (Kolkata Knight Riders): The stylish right-handed batsman got all the shot in the book. Was the player of the tournament in U-19 world cup 2018. Despite playing in the unfamiliar positions, he scored some useful runs for KKR. Has got great temperament to boost his natural talent. Gill scored 203 runs in 13 matches. But don’t judge him with his numbers, those runs came at the time where his team needed the most.



Mayank Markande (Mumbai Indians): He surprised everyone with his leg spin bowling. Made his IPL debut against Chennai Super Kings and picked up three wickets in the same game. Forced everyone to take a look at him. Since then he bowled brilliantly right throughout the IPL. In fact, his combined bowling figure in the first two matches of the IPL were 8-0-46-7. The future prospect for India, if he can perform well consistently in the domestic cricket.



Rashid Khan (Sunrisers Hyderabad): Best bowler in the shortest format of the game. The man needs no introduction. Can turn any match on its head. He has been instrumental for Sunrisers consistent performance in this year IPL. Rashid Khan took 21 wickets in 17 matches in Vivo IPL 2018. His googly is so lethal that even the likes of AB Devilliers, Kohli struggles to pick him from the hand. Can Contribute with the bat and a gun fielder as well. We saw his batting prowess when he played a blistering cameo against the KKR in the 2nd qualifier. That knock turned out to be the game changer for the Sunrisers.  



Soon he will be seen on white clothes, as Afghanistan is gearing up for their debut test match against India, scheduled to be played on June 14th, 2018 at Chinnaswamy Stadium Bengaluru. The people of Afghanistan will be hoping that he can wave his magic in the longer format of the game as well.  


Mujeeb Ur Rahman (Kings XI Punjab): Another spinning sensation from Afghanistan. Made his IPL debut for Punjab in 2018. He is an exceptional talent. Like his fellow countryman Rashid Khan, Mujeeb takes wickets for fun. Had a terrific IPL. Certainly a future star. He produced on the best moments of IPL when he foxed RCB captain Virat Kohli with his beautifully disguise googly, which Kohli failed to pick and got bowled comprehensively. Cricket fans around the world will definitely hear his name frequently in the coming days that is for sure.



Jofra Archer (Rajasthan Royals): He is a Barbados born English cricketer. Predominantly a fast bowler but can be very useful with the bat in the lower order. Represented Rajasthan in the IPL. He his a specialist death bowler can bowl yorkers at will. A genuine wicket tacker Archer bowled magnificently for Royals. He took 15 wickets in 10 matches in this season of IPL.
