The ‘Koffee With Karan’ episode featuring Hardik Pandya and K L Rahul has been deleted by Hotstar. Here, we will take a look at why there was absolutely no need for this!

'Koffee With Karan’ is a light chit-chat show meant for the entertainment of the masses. This candid talk show is no stranger to controversy. And now it has been doing the rounds again for the misconduct shown by a player who has been representing India for quite some time now. He's the Baroda-based Hardik Pandya.

Hardik Pandya and Kannanur Lokesh Rahul became the first-ever Indian cricketers to appear on the show. The episode, featuring both the players, was highly anticipated and fans were eager to know more about their future stars. A no. of teasers to this episode had already been released and it caused a lot of stir in the audiences. But when the episode was finally aired, it became a subject for a lot of criticism and hate. Pandya made a string of cringy remarks which includes that he loves to watch women move and how he announced that he had lost his virginity to his parents. After it continued to attract limelight, the CoA Chief Vinod Rai has asked the board to ban both the players from two One-Day International as a penalty for inappropriate behaviour.

Recently, Hotstar has removed this particular episode of KwK and here are some reasons why this step is not justified:

  1. Now let's just move on: A lot has been written and printed about this issue and how he has hurt the sentiments of a particular section of society. He had said some really stupid things but he did apologise for his behaviour too. He is a young athlete, did some extreme-hard work and gained a lot of fame. But he didn't know how to manage them. He is not a trained diplomat, right? Now the BCCI is also considering to ban players from attending Television shows without prior permission. Now, that's not what their job by any means. To put it simply, we should move on from this issue and not drag it any longer. Curse him as much as you want if he gets a wicket on a no-ball in the World Cup Final.

  1. Don't expect them to be great human beings: Sports Persons have a life of their own and they do have every right to choose what they want to do with it. Living like a saint or spoiling it with nuisance is a choice and some choose the latter! They are human beings too and can commit mistakes. They may be a hero in the field but may not be one in real life. Just don't expect them to be great but if in case they are, it's a bonus. Saints like Dravid actually exist.

  1. They should have cut the creepy part: If you take a close look at the entire episode, you would understand how Karan Johar was constantly trying to get under the skin of Pandya. And laughing at his lame comments. Karan's way of questioning was highly objectionable throughout the episode. This particular episode has been in the public domain for quite some time now. So, instead of removing the whole video altogether, they could have just cropped the creepy portion.

Removing the episode will not do a major well in any form as excerpts from it can be found anywhere on the internet.
