The 29-year-old New Zealand leg-spinner Ish Sodhi became the first non-Asian spinner and fifth overall bowler to reach the 100 T20I wickets milestone.

While New Zealand are currently busy in the home T20I series with Pakistan and Bangladesh, they had a match against Bangladesh last Sunday (9th October) at Christchurch. During that match, Ish Sodhi created that new T20I history.

In that third game of the tri-series, New Zealand sent Bangladesh to bat first. While Bangladesh scored 137/8 in 20 overs, New Zealand comfortably chased down the target in 17.5 overs after losing two wickets.

Ish Sodhi: 101 wickets in 78 T20Is

Starting his 78th T20I with 99 wickets, Sodhi was one wicket away from completing 100 T20 wickets. In the ninth over of the match, Sodhi bowled his first over of the game and completed 100 T20 wickets on the final ball of that over. He dismissed the set opener Najmul Hossain Shanto (33), who was caught out at long-off by Mark Chapman.

In his next over, Sodhi dismissed Mosaddek Hossain (2). At the end of that game, Sodhi had the bowling figures of 4-0-31-2 as he already took 101 wickets in 78 T20Is.
