While the Vitality Blast or T20 Blast 2022 is currently running in England, English cricketer James Vince recorded the second-highest individual score as a captain in the English T20 Blast history.

Hampshire met Somerset last Thursday (23rd June) in the South Group contest of the Vitality Blast 2022 at Taunton. While Hampshire scored 208/5 (20 overs) in the first innings after losing the toss, Somerset replied with 194/9 in 20 overs.

In the first batting, though the opener and wicketkeeper-batter Ben McDermott was dismissed without opening the scoreboard, skipper James Vince soon provided a strong start for his team through a solid partnership with Tom Prest.

During that 144-run partnership for the second wicket, while Vince completed his half-century in 36 balls, Prest achieved the same feat in 38 balls with a boundary. Though Prest lost his wicket after scoring 62 runs off 46 balls, Vince continued his attack on the opponent bowlers.

Skipper Vince completed his fourth T20 century in 51 balls. The right-handed opening batter ended that innings with a sixer on the final ball of that innings. He scored 129 not out off 62 balls with the help of nine fours and 10 sixes. It is his new highest score in his T20 career.
