In an opening game of T-20l series between Sri Lanka and West Indies, the unique record was established by the batsman. Before this instance there was one batsman in the T-20l cricket history who had achieved this feat when Yuvraj Singh Went Berserk against England at Kingsmead Durban, 2007 to smash six sixes in an over. While in 50-over cricket the former South Africa batsman Herschelle Gibbs is another batsman to smash six sixes in an over against an associate nation called Netherlands.

Although the six sixes against England is the best thing ever happened in Cricket. The opposition, stage and the situation it came in the must-win game by the batsman was completely surreal. Over the years, cricket has witnessed numerous changes which favours the batsman over the bowlers or kind of if say it’s batsman era not be wrong thing to admit.

With grounds getting shorter and fielding restrictions are applied during the power plays so that batsman can go to any extent to display his batting skills. It’s hard to see these days a rivalry among bat and the ball like it was in the 70s to early 2000 era. Bowlers like Michael Holding, Dennis Lillie, Jeff Thomson, Shane Bond and Brett Lee who have put the fear into the batsman's mind with their unplayable bowling skills. Keep that interesting story for another day.

In the first match of the series the hosts (West Indies) have won the toss and invited the visitors (Sri Lanka) to bat first who's having some big names in the top-order. Sri Lanka lost its first wicket at the score of 20 when Danushka Gunathilaka was caught by Pollard on the delivery of Kevin Sinclair.

Sri Lanka survived the early blow and was in the confident position at one stage at 71/1 by the end of 10 overs. But the wicket of Dickwella had triggered the collapse and what’s next Sri Lanka has only managed to add 60 runs on the board with the loss of 9 wickets in the 20 overs.

The target for hosts was 132 runs when Chris Gayle returned after a long time it was the just matter of a few overs. But hosts was restricted was at the score of 62 runs for the loss of 4 wickets by the end of 5 overs which included a hat trick of Akila Dananjaya (who picked three wickets in three balls of Evin Lewis, Chris Gayle and Nicholas Pooran) to bring back visitors into the game.

But captain Kieron Pollard has completely taken the game away from opposition with the absolute carnage 38 runs off 11 balls which featured 6 sixes in an over of the same bowler who has picked three wickets in three balls earlier. West Indies have chased down the target (in 13.1 overs) with 4 wickets in hand and taken the 1-0 lead in the series. With the T-20l world cup is near it will be interesting to see that West Indies can defend the title when his captain is back into the form.
