King Kohli is Back

This is an article that is just my love and appreciation for Virat Kohli for what he did yesterday against Afghanistan and gave so much joy to 140 crore Indians who love him so much. Yesterday was a special night as we all saw The King coming back and reclaiming his throne in the cricket World and he did in the format that was least expected of him and even he was shocked by his innings last night. This Asia Cup has been one to forget for Team India but the biggest positive is that Virat Kohli is back in form and this is a great sign for the World Cup in Australia

For those people who do not know what I am talking about Virat Kohli was searching for his 71st international Hundred since the last 1020 days that is almost 3 years and finally yesterday the monkey was off his back and hopefully this will be the start of many more hundreds to come from the bat of The King and all the other teams should be very worried. I was smiling from ear to ear watching him bat and it reminded me from 2016-2019 Virat.

122* from 61 Balls

This is the score that Virat Kohli made yesterday and as a result he also became the highest individual score for India in this format and it came as an opener and India should keep him as an opener in the World Cup because that was a perfect innings. He did not go hammer and tongs in the first 6 overs as he saw the pitch and got used to it getting his 50 from 32 balls which was still very good but he was taking his time getting his eye in.

After he got his 50 then he changed gears as all the other batters were getting out he was taking calculated risks against the 2 spinners Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman and when he got in the last 5 overs and then the fast bowlers were left to bowl then he showed all his class and smashed fours and sixes to all parts of the ground and he brought up his 71st hundred in just 51 balls and his first in the T20I format of the game. He hit 12 fours and 6 huge sixes in this innings meaning a total of 84 runs in boundaries and he made these 122* runs at a strike rate of exactly 200.

This was a special innings and was the only thing that kept this match vs Afghanistan watchable as no one wanted to miss this special moment and the emotions and relief on his face after getting this 100 was special to see and all of India was happy and the pain of not winning the Asia Cup was less hurtful thanks to Virat Kohli. He has become like Sachin Tendulkar was in the past and now he is level with Ricky Ponting in 71 international hundreds and the race to 100 international hundreds is back on.
