Kuldeep Yadav Records Best Indian ODI Bowling Figures In West Indies

While India outclassed the hosts West Indies in the three-match ODI series opener, the left-arm spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja dominated with the balls. The left-arm chinaman Kuldeep recorded India’s best ODI bowling figures in the West Indies.

On Thursday (27 July), India chose to field first after winning the toss. After the Indian pacers provided a controlled start, Ravindra Jadeja first destroyed the Caribbean batting line-up with his three wickets, and then Kuldeep Yadav finished the home team with his four-fer. Their bowling destroyed the West Indies team, as the hosts were bundled out for only 114 runs in 23 overs.

Kuldeep ended the game with outstanding bowling figures of 3-2-6-4. It is the new record in Indian ODI history for the best bowling figures in the West Indies.

In reply, India chased down the target in 22.5 overs after losing five wickets. Opener Ishan Kishan had a powerful knock of 52 runs off 46 balls with the help of seven fours and one six.

  • Kuldeep Yadav managed the third-best away bowling figures by an Indian left-arm spinner in ODI cricket history. The top two records are 10-0-25-6 by Kuldeep Yadav (vs England at Nottingham on 12 July 2018) and 6.5-1-15-5 by Ravi Shastri (vs Australia at Perth on 8 December 1991).

  • Yadav also claimed the fifth-best ODI bowling figures by a left-arm bowler against the hosts West Indies.
