The inaugural season of the Asia Cup was held in the year 1984. The Asia Cup has completed its 14th season. The United Arab Emirates hosted the inaugural season of the Asia cup in 1984. The tournament follows the ODI format. For the first time in 2016, the Asia Cup was played in the T20 format. After that Asian Cricket Council stated that One Day International and Twenty20 will be held alternatively.


The 15th edition of the Asia Cup is scheduled for August 2022 in Sri Lanka. But due to the economic crisis in Sri Lanka, the tournament is being shifted to UAE as per reports. Originally the Asia cup was scheduled for September 2020. But because of the Covid-19 Pandemic, the season got cancelled and postponed to 2022. Many International, as well as Domestic Cricket events, got canceled because of Covid-19 Outbreak. So cricket fans are very excited for the upcoming season of the Asia cup. 1984– In 1984 Asia Cup was played in ODI format in the United Arab Emirates only three teams participated in the inaugural season( India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan). India won the inaugural Asia Cup and Sri Lanka was runner-up in that season.


1986– In 1986 Asia Cup was hosted by Sri Lanka and it was played in the ODI format. Pakistan was the runner ups and Sri Lanka was the winner.


1988– In 1988 Asia Cup was played in the ODI format in Bangladesh. It was again India who won the Cup and Sri Lanka was the runner ups.


1990/91– In 1990 Asia Cup was hosted by India and it was played in the ODI format. Sri Lanka was the runner ups and India was the winner.


1995– In 1995 Asia Cup was played in ODI format and it was hosted by the United Arab Emirates. India once again won the Cup and Sri Lanka was the runner ups.


1997– In 1997 it was Sri Lanka who hosted the Asia Cup which was played in the ODI format this time Sri Lanka won the Cup and India was the runner ups.


2000– In 2000 it was Bangladesh who hosted the cup in the ODI format and Pakistan won the Cup for the first time and Sri Lanka was the runner-up.


2004– In 2004 Asia Cup was played in ODI format and it was hosted by Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka won the Cup and India was the runner ups.


2008– In 2008 Asia Cup was hosted by Pakistan for the first time and it was played in the ODI format. Sri Lanka won the tournament and India was the runner ups.


2010– In 2010 it was Sri Lanka hosted the Asia Cup which was played in the ODI format. India won the Cup and Sri Lanka was the runner ups.


2012– In 2012 Bangladesh hosted the Asia Cup and Pakistan won the Cup. Bangladesh was the runner ups.


2014– In 2014 Asia Cup was again hosted by Bangladesh which was played in the ODI format and Sri Lanka won the Cup. Pakistan was the runner ups.


2016– In 2016 for the first time, the Asia Cup was played in the T20 format and this time it was Bangladesh who hoisted the Cup for the third consecutive time. India won the Cup and Bangladesh was the runner ups.


2018– The Previous Season of the Asia Cup was held in the year 2018. UAE Hosted the complete Schedule of Asia Cup 2018. Total Six teams featured in the Previous Season of Asia Cup. India and Bangladesh faced each other in the finals of the Asia Cup 2018. On 28th September 2018, the final match of Asia Cup Season 14th was Played. India Defeated Bangladesh by 3 wickets and won the Asia Cup 2018 Trophy.


India is the most successful team in the Asia Cup with Seven Titles. Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and India are the only three teams to win the title of Asia Cup in all Seasons. Following India, Sri Lanka is the second most successful team with Five Asia Cup Titles.
