Most fours in an innings in T20 Internationals

Hitting fours in a T20 international may not seem too attractive or eye pleasing to the viewer but it gives the players a lot of satisfaction when they can hit the ball for a boundary. It keeps the scoreboard moving and helps them get accustomed to the pitch conditions. Seeing a straight drive or a cover drive or an on drive is very nice to witness as a pure cricket fan.

Many people would not be interested in the most number of fours in an innings but it’s equally important to keep note of the number of boundaries a batter hits in an innings as hitting sixes all the time is not easy so they need to rely heavily on the fours they hit to keep their own and the team’s score moving at a fast pace.

Let’s see who holds the record for being the Top 5 most fours in an innings in T20 Internationals:

1. Aaron Finch (16 Fours):

Another T20 international record and another mention for Aaron Finch, it clearly shows his pure dominance in this format of the game. Hitting record number of fours while having the capability to hit huge Sixes is an impressive feat in itself. The opponents were Zimbabwe and he hit 15 fours in the innings and he hit the ball to all parts of the ground and the Zimbabwe Bowlers were totally helpless and clueless. He showed no mercy on the bowlers and made a record breaking 172 runs in the process. The fans became spellbound by watching this high level of batsmanship from a top class player.

2. Babar Azam (15 Fours):

This class player and the leader of Pakistan hit 15 fours in an innings in 2021 against a very good South Africa attack at Centurion. And on top of that he hit this incredible innings while he was chasing a total in excess of 200 and he smashed the bowlers all around the ground and hit a splendid 122 runs in just 59 balls and guided Pakistan home with 2 overs to spare showing how dominant he was to chase a total of 200+ with 2 overs still left to be bowled. After this innings he gained prominence as a destructive world class T20 batter.

3. Max O’Dowd (15 Fours):

This very talented batter from the Netherlands showed this day that how good and classy he is. Against Malaysia in 2021 he hit a sublime 133 runs off 73 deliveries hitting 15 fours in total. He took the Malaysian bowlers to the cleaners and they had no respite from his onslaught that day and he showed his range of shot making and helped the Netherlands make a formidable score of 191 on the board.

4. Herschelle Gibbs (14 Fours):

This match was the inaugural match of the World T20 in 2007 where West Indies played South Africa at Johannesburg. Batting first West Indies scored 205 runs on the board with the help of a magnificent century from Chris Gayle but in the second innings Herschelle Gibbs smashed 90 runs with 14 fours in that innings and showed that T20 cricket can also be played by hitting fours as well and he helped South Africa chase this massive total with 14 balls to spare.

5. Aaron Finch (14 Fours):

Another Aaron Finch innings in the record books. He is such a special player and he hit a wonderful 89 runs against India in 2013 but to his disappointment his team lost the match and the Indians chased a big total of 202 with 2 deliveries remaining. It was a great match and both teams entertained the viewers.
