The 22-year-old Namibian cricketer Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton created a new world record in T20I cricket history during the Nepal T20I tri-series opener against the hosts Nepal, as the left-handed batter hit the fastest T20I century.


Last Tuesday (27 February), when Nepal hosted Namibia in the T20I tri-series opener at Kirtipur, Namibia chose to bat first and scored 206/4 in 20 overs. The no.5 Namibian batter Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton joined the crease when they were struggling at 62/3 in 10.4 overs.


Fastest T20I century: Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton broke Kushal Malla’s record

After completing his half-century in 18 balls, the left-handed batter Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton completed his maiden T20 hundred in 33 balls to break the record for the fastest T20I century. During that record-breaking knock, Loftie-Eaton hit 11 fours and eight sixes. He was ultimately dismissed after scoring 101 runs in 36 balls.


Previously, the Nepalese cricketer Kushal Malla held the fastest T20I century record with a 34-ball hundred against Mongolia during the record-breaking match at the Asian Games 2023.
