AB De Villiers (16 Balls)

The fastest half century In ODIs hosting belongs to AB De Villiers and he played this Innings in the best ODI innings of all time and he absolutely obliterated the West Indies in 2015 and made the fastest ODI century in this innings as well in 31 balls. For his 50 he hit 3 hours and 5 sixes and he hit at a strike rate of more than 300 in this innings. It was the most brutal assault by a batter.


Sanath Jayasuriya (17 Balls)

The man before AB De Villiers who held the record for the fastest half century in ODIs belonged to Sanath Jayasuriya of Sri Lanka and he did it in 17 balls in 1996 vs Pakistan and he held this record for 19 years. He in this innings hit 6 fours and 3 sixes while getting to his 50 and he showed why he is one of the best ODI players ever to have played the game.


Martin Guptill (17 Balls)

Martin Guptill is next on this list and he also made his half century in 17 balls in 2015 vs Sri Lanka and he made a total of 93 runs in that innings and while getting to his 50 he hit 4 sixes and 4 fours which means a total of 44 runs in just boundaries alone. The Sri Lankan bowlers had no clue where to bowl to him and he just deposited the ball to all parts of Hagley Oval.


Kusal Perera (17 Balls)

Next on this list is Kusal Perera from Sri Lanka and he also hit a 17 Ball half century in 2015 vs Pakistan and it looks like the year 2015 every batter wanted to get on this list of the fastest half centuries in ODIs history. He hit 68 runs in that innings and in reaching his 50 he hit 9 fours and 2 sixes which means a total of 48 runs in boundaries. This was a great innings from the Sri Lankan batter and he became the second Sri Lankan batter to hit a 17 Ball half century.


Michael Leask (18 Balls)

The 5th and final player on our list is the player from Scotland Michael Leask who hit a 18 ball half century in 2022 just a few months ago vs Papua New Guinea and he hit only 6 Massive sixes in this innings which was full of brutality. Michael Leask made a big name for himself after this innings and it’s good to see so many young players from other nations making their mark in cricket.
