Sachin Tendulkar sues an Australian Cricket Bat Maker

Sachin Tendulkar has Filed a lawsuit against Australian Bat maker company Spartan, after the company failed to make the Payment of the cricketer.

The little Master Sachin Tendulkar has filed a civil lawsuit against the Australian Bat Maker Spartan Sports. The Sydney based company in 2006 agreed to pay Tendulkar an amount of at least 1 million Dollars to use his image, logo and promotional services. But the company by September 2008, Spartan failed to make even a single payment which led to Sachin ending the agreement and asked the company to stop using his name and logo. Yet Spartan according to the documents continue to use Tendulkar’s image.


In federal court papers filed this month and reviewed by Recruiters, The little master stated that Spartan Sports international agreed to pay him at least $ 1 million a year to sell “ Sachin by Spartan” goods and clothing which had photos and logo of the cricketers. Tendulkar also promoted various products of the bat maker company in London and Mumbai, the documents showed.



Spartan whose legal representative was not listed on the Federal Court Website, did not respond to any of the mail sent to them by Recruiters for their comment.

Les Galbraith who is the Chief Operating Officer listed by the court documents also did not reply to the emails which were sent to him. The law firm which is listed to be representing the cricketer Gilbert + Tobin also declined comment.


Tendulkar’s civil claim has also accused Spartan company of Misleading or deceptive conduct, “ Passing off “ or suggesting an official endorsement when none existed and breach of contract. It also does not state what damages were sought.


Cricketers like MS Dhoni, Chris Gayle, David Warner, Micheal Clarke are some of the big cricketers that have recently used bats of the company Spartan.


The legendary Indian Batsman is the highest run scorer in both test matches and one-day internationals, he scored 18,426 runs for India in ODIs whereas in tests he made 15,921 runs. He is the only cricketer that has 100 international hundreds to his name. He ended his glorious 24-year career in the year 2013. Tendulkar in 2012 became the honorary member of Order of Australia, one of Australia’s highest civil awards
