The Pink City Jaipur is all set to get World’s 3rd largest cricket stadium

Rajasthan Cricket Association has proclaimed that the new stadium in Jaipur will have a seating capacity of 75,000. This will become the third-largest stadium in the world after the Motera Stadium and Melbourne cricket stadium.

RCA is planning to build a stadium in the outskirts of Jaipur city that can accommodate 75,000 spectators and provide world-class facilities including clubhouse and parking for 4,000 vehicles.


This will become the world’s third-largest stadium after the Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad and Melbourne cricket stadium in Australia. Motera can host 1.10 lakh people and Melbourne has a seating count of 1.02 lakh.

RCA secretary Mahendra Sharma said that the construction is believed to begin in 4 months. The stadium will be spread over 100 acres of land. "The land has been finalized in Chonp village, 25 km from Jaipur on the Jaipur-Delhi Highway”, he added.

The world-class green stadium will facilitate several indoor games other than cricket. It shall have a plush sports field, modern pavilion stands, clubhouse, corporate pushes, two restaurants for spectators, floodlights, press conference room accommodating 250 people, two practice grounds that can be used for Ranji matches, 30 practice nets, and other amusing amenities.

The construction of the stadium was proposed in the meeting of the RCA executive community held under the RCA president Vaibhav Gehlot. It received undivided approval at the meeting. Also, it was decided in the meeting to hold domestic cricket tournaments in Rajasthan. Forming a selection committee and appointment of coaches and sports staff for all categories were some of the other approved proposals.

The constructors Mehta and associates LLP and GRAS, a Delhi based sports design consultancy firm gave a presentation of the design to RCA chief patron CP Joshi and RCA president Vaibhav Gehlot. It is said that the stadium is the brainchild of the RCA president.

As far as the financing is concerned, Sharma noted that BCCI ₹90 crores to the association. It will seek a ₹100 crore grant from BCCI which will be taken as a loan and gather ₹60 crores by selling corporate boxes in the stadium.

The stadium is offered and expected to be constructed in 2 phases. In the first phase, the seating capacity of 45,000 spectators will be built and the second phase will be developed with the remaining 30,000 seating capacity.

The construction is expected to get underway in the next four months and shall be built within 2 years of construction.
