Travis Head was finally fit for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 as he made an outstanding comeback in the Australian side during their match against New Zealand. On his return, the 29-year-old left-handed opening batter smashed a stunning 59-ball century. While it was his Cricket World Cup debut match, Head recorded the fastest century on ODI World Cup debut.
New Zealand chose to field first after winning the toss against Australia in the crucial game at Dharamsala. Aussie openers David Warner and Travis Head thrashed the Blackcaps bowlers from the early of the innings.
While Australia scored 118/0 at the end of the first powerplay, the Aussie openers continued that destructive style in the second powerplay. Warner-Head had a 175-run partnership for the first wicket in 19.1 overs.
Travis Head – 59-ball century; 109 runs in 67 balls
Although Warner was out for 81 runs in 65 balls (five fours and six sixes), Head smashed a 59-ball hundred. Head scored 109 runs in 67 balls with the help of ten fours and seven sixes. Those batting performances led the Aussies to manage the mammoth 388 runs in 49.2 overs before losing all wickets.
