Former Indian captain Virat Kohli became the first cricketer to score 4000 T20I runs. The legendary right-handed batter reached this new milestone during the semi-final match against England in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022.

India suffered another heart-breaking knockout stage exit from another ICC tournament as one of the tournament favourites was thrashed by England in the second semi-final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022.

In that game at Adelaide, though India scored 168/6 in 20 overs after losing the toss, England chased the target in 16 overs without losing a wicket.

During the first innings of that semi-final, Virat Kohli managed his 200th 50+ score in his international career. The right-handed batter became the second Indian and fifth overall batter to record 200 50+ scores in their international career.

At the crucial moment of that game, Kohli scored 50 off 40 balls (4 fours and only six). During that batting performance, the leading T20I run-corer Kohli completed his 4000 T20I runs.

At the end of that innings, Kohli, the first cricketer to score 4000 T20I runs, has scored 4008 T20I runs in 107 innings (115 matches) with an average of 52.73 and a strike rate of 137.96. He has scored one century and 37 half-centuries in his T20I career.

Previously, Kohli was also the first batter to complete 3000 T20I runs. At present, five more batters have reached that milestone.
