West Indies Thrash Pakistan by 202 Runs to Seal Historic ODI Series Win After 31 Years

West Indies crushed Pakistan by 202 runs in the 3rd ODI to win their first ODI series against Pakistan in 31 years. Shai Hope’s century and Jayden Seales’ 6-fer set multiple records.

Hosts West Indies thrashed Pakistan in the third and final ODI series to secure the historic ODI series by 2-1. 


Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan chose to field first in the last game of the ODI series. After struggling at 184/6 in the 42nd over, West Indies managed to score 294/6 in 50 overs. In reply, Pakistan were bundled out for only 92 runs, as the hosts won the match by 202 runs. Now, we will see some records of the match. 


West Indies captain Shai Hope hit a century 

Shai Hope recorded his fifth ODI century as West Indies captain. 

  • With this ODI century, Shai Hope equalled the record for most ODI centuries as a West Indies captain. Former Caribbean captain Brian Lara previously held this record with five ODI centuries as West Indies captain.


Shai Hope hit his third ODI century as West Indies captain in the West Indies.

  • Hope set a new record for most ODI centuries by a West Indies captain at home. Brian Lara was the previous record holder with two ODI centuries by a West Indies captain in the West Indies.  


West Indies captain Shai Hope scored 120 not out off 94 balls.

  • Hope recorded the highest score by a West Indies ODI captain in the West Indies. Hope was also the previous record holder with 117 runs against England in North Sound in 2024. 


West Indies recorded one of their top ODI totals vs Pakistan 

West Indies scored 294/6 in 50 overs.

  • It was the third-highest ODI total for West Indies against Pakistan in the West Indies. Their top two records in this list are 315/4 (at Port of Spain in 1988) and 309/6 (at Providence in 2017).

  • It was the joint sixth-highest ODI total for West Indies against Pakistan. 


Jayden Seales recorded 6-fer; best ODI bowling figures against Pakistan 

West Indies right-arm fast bowler Jayden Seales recorded the bowling figures of 7.2-0-18-6. 

  • Seales recorded the third-best ODI bowling figures by a West Indies bowler. The top two records are 7/51 by Winston Davis (vs Australia at Leeds in 1983) and 6/15 by Colin Croft (vs England at Kingstown in 1981).  

  • Seales recorded the best ODI bowling figures against Pakistan. The previous record was 9-0-39-6 by South African fast bowler Dale Steyn at Gqeberha in 2013.

West Indies ended 31-year wait to win an ODI series against Pakistan 

West Indies won the three-match home ODI series against Pakistan by 2-1.

  • It was the West Indies’ first bilateral ODI series victory against Pakistan since 1993. Their previous bilateral ODI series win against Pakistan was in 1991, when the West Indies won the three-match ODI series in Pakistan by 2-0, with one tied result.
