Why does New Zealand do so well in ICC events?

This is a simple question isn’t it and yet it is one that shows the quality of this New Zealand team that does so well in every ICC event no matter the format. They are a role model to all the other teams at the World stage. New Zealand are a team that are under the radar and very few give them a chance before any ICC event and that is where the others make a huge mistake.

Before we get onto the reasons why New Zealand does so well, I have to say that they are everyone’s  second favorite cricket team other than their home team because they set a perfect example of how to be like when you play cricket. I am so happy for them and hope from now on all the experts will rate them more highly. Let’s look at the reasons now

A brilliant leader

The New Zealand team are blessed to have a truly brilliant and an exceptional leader and captain for them In Kane Williamson. He is the most respected cricketer from New Zealand because of how he is and how calm he is under any situation. Kane Williamson is the perfect leader who knows how to get the best out of everyone in the most pressure situations. He has the full support and his teammates are willing to do anything for him

An incredible bowling attack

It is always said that bowling wins you tournaments and New Zealand have one of the best and most versatile bowling attacks in the world. They are such a great all round unit. They have a left arm fast bowler in Trent Boult, a right arm swing bowler in Tim Southee, a right arm fast bowler in Lockie Ferguson, a leg spinner in Ish Sodhi and a left arm spinner in Mitchell Santner. Such a great variety will result in great performances.

A batting line-up for all conditions

We talked about the bowling before now let’s talk about their batting because they have all kinds of batters and with different playing ways. They have Finn Allen who is an attacking batter then they have Devon Conway and Kane Williamson who are technical artists. Then they had Ross Taylor for years who provided then stability.

Peaking at the right time

This is perhaps the most important reason for New Zealand to do well in all ICC events. They do not play as well throughout the year but when the ICC events come then they shift a gear and they play to their best and they peak at the right time and all the other teams just look on as they have reached the final of all the last 3 ICC events. The 2019 World Cup final, the 2021 World Test Championship which they won and then the 2021 T20I World Cup final.

They have started their campaign in the 2022 T20I World Cup with 2 wins from 3 matches and a washout and they look great to make the Top 4 again.
